Trump to African Americans: "What do you have to lose?, You're living in poverty"

And yet I'm sure that Trump and the GOP are still wondering why no presidential candidate from their party has won Michigan since 1988...

Yesterday PoliGAF was Chicken Littleing over his apology and he already managed to turn things around and screw it up again.

I knew I could count on you, Trump.

Don't be silly, Trump is still on his pivot. Trump denigrating black people is nothing new, just as his recent appeals to black people aren't actually for black people. It's for white people who want to vote for Trump but don't want to be seen as supporting someone unapologetically racist. The very type of white person who would hear these comments and not find a single thing wrong with them. What's wrong with what he said? I mean they are poor and live in the ghetto, right?

I mean, this is the man who did this in the 80s:

And STILL attacks these men as recently as 2 years ago even though they've been exonerated.

Trump having nothing but scorn for black people is nothing new, black people being dogwhistled by presidential candidates is nothing new, and this will do nothing to move the needle except hopefully (in his mind, anyway), convince Republicans who don't want to be seen as openly racist that it's ok to support him, because he will get in line and provide the standard level of Republican "support" for minorities.

He's the law and order candidate. He should take out that ad again.

Oh god, GOP should get the death penalty

"58% of your youth are unemployed!"

58% of black youths are unemployed? Exactly how does that metric work? Is anyone over the age of 15 expected to hold down a job?

Come on that can't be true. Surely he had water and shit in his trucks,

Pretty sure they did have the amenities as well. Seems pretty standard. Surely, there's no need to find issues where there are none. You only end up being the buffoon by trying too hard.

Not the poster. The article creator.

How could this possibly be worse? Aren't you even a little curious? Vote for Trump! Solve one of life's mysteries!

All lives matter is indeed bullshit

How so? Do not all lives matter or is it one race that does? I do not understand this argument. I made my post because I'm irritated. BLM started because black people want equality. Now we're at a point where some chapters/protests are segregating themselves. It defeats the purpose. Also, the OP flat out made a statement that all lives matter is bullshit. I can't see why my response to that is off topic.

OP said, "all lives matter" bullshit. Most people that make that claim are saying it's shenanigans against BLM. My point is that all lives do in fact matter. Saying otherwise is kind of racist imo.

So you're of the opinion that people regularly use the words " all lives matter" and it has nothing to do with being a play on BLM?

BLM has nothing to do with only Black lives mattering, and the only people that don't see that are those that don't want to see that so they deflect and say all lives should matter!

This literally has nothing to do with the thread. At all.

But good job shitting it up with random "All Lives Matter" bullshit.

How many times have you heard "Black Lives Matter Too"? Because surely you've heard of it at least once. Nobody is saying ONLY Black Lives Matter. And you know that. You know that. Don't come in here pretending like you know that black communities are "segregating themselves" when you know perfectly well that you don't.

Didn't you hear the man? We don't have jobs!

And, as some others have said, this has absolutely nothing to do with African Americans. It's about trying to convince white voters who absolutely refuse to support Trump because they don't see themselves as bigots, and they would see a vote for Trump as a vote for a racist who spews hatred towards minorities.

He and his campaign hopes that by seeing Trump go out there and so aggressively ask African Americans for their vote, those white voters that Trump feels he really needs, and is losing due to this aura of bigotry surrounding his candidacy, will suddenly have a moment where they say, "Oh wow, there's no way this guy could possibly be racist. Look at this. He really is going hard for the support of African Americans. He sounds like he truly cares about them and what they're going through."

Let's hope most aren't so stupid. There's a reason why Trump repeats the term African Americans so much, and goes out of his way to create juicy highlights that the media can't help themselves but play back over and over, which he feels will play into his hands by ensuring that even if nobody sees the entirety of the speech he gave, they at the very least see him making a so called passionate plea for the support of African Americans. On a separate note, while I hope Trump and his campaign aren't dumb enough to think that African Americans will actually end up falling for this act of his, the proof that Trump really doesn't a damn about African Americans or their support, was just how far Trump went in his efforts to disrespect and delegitimize the country's first black President. There was no substance or policy behind his attacks and claims, it was pure hatred for not so much the man himself, because he barely knows him, it was pure hatred for what a President Barack Obama stands for. How is it possible that this black guy could possibly end up President of the United States whereas I, the privileged white son of a billionaire, has never tasted that type of relevance or power?

Funny. That's the same point BLM is making. I'm pretty sure you know that. I have Swedish friends who know this (lol..NO, I'm not joking). But yeah..racist!!! 😕

Unlike everyone else who has replied to you, I think your post is totally relevant.

It shows that whenever Trump or any of his defenders are called out for their hateful attitudes, they immediately launch into loudly discussing unrelated subjects, misleading and/or false statistics, and conspiracy theories.

It's always the last stand of an empire that will soon fall, but luckily for us, it will never stand in the first place.

You should go and explain to them that they are protesting wrong. They probably just hadn't considered it as much as you have. It's most likely an honest mistake or some wacky misunderstanding.
