TRUTHFACT: MS having eSRAM yield problems on Xbox One

Whats more irritating about all of this is the fact none of this matters, and the xbox will sell out like crazy. I think people are missing the idea of just how many gamers dont give a crap about game news, they just like games and their typical game console.

About 8 of my family members love xbox and dont give a hot damn if the system was just a rebranded xbox 360, they would still buy it. Infact, Im the one who has to attempt to keep them up with all the latest news (of which I use the awesome sources of gaf). I love every single console, and have owned every single console including PC (superior).

However, I cant help but get extremly angry at microsoft for the possiblility of them paying money for third parties because they have "the income to do it". Its bullshit. MS doesnt have to be honest, they dont have to give a shit that everything is behind a paywall, the nickle and diming of gamers, the bad reputation they are gaining, or neogaf.

The worst part? I will buy it too, because its the only way to play games with my family and friends. Same reason COD is still popular, same reason we have sequels that sell like crazy. You buy what your friends buy and lets be honest, Xbox is the king of multiplayer because of Halo and other shooters.

● And they wasted their reveal talking about TV, TV, TV, TV, TV to do a function that nobody in their right mind would do if they had a DVR, to talk about sports and Kinect and have only two real games at their reveal.
● And is now liberally peppering all their attacks with a unhealthy dose of aggressive arrogance.
● On top of that gigantic shit sandwich, they have now also canceled their post-E3 media roundtable, presumably because they're tired of being eviscerated and embarrassed non-stop since January 2013. Once again, because of shit they did and no one else.
● Plus their presentation of their OS at the media reveal was confirmed to be completely fake, which wouldn't have been terrible except the entire time of the reveal they were trying to convince people it was real. "See how fast this thing moves!?"
● One final tip: Their dev tools are also comically behind its primary competitor.

This has been without exception the most biblical epic failure of console reveals, even topping the PS3's $599.99 just for its sheer confounding, aimless nonsense since the beginning of 2013. Not a single day has passed by without some relentless bit of tortuously negative Xbox One news.


The kicker? This is ALL Microsoft's fault and they should have seen the reaction coming a mile away since the problems they introduced of their own free will has been eviscerated among gamers and the press for years now, to say nothing of things like the Sim City or Diablo III debacle.

Ok, good point. I'll try and not attack anyone, but someone who says they are being realistic is not really being realistic until all the facts are known. We have not even hit E3. These consoles are MONTHS away from release, but people are going bat shit crazy. But ya sure...i'm attacking people for their sensible assessments of the situation...

Based on looking at the gaming performance of equivalent AMD cards, having 50% more CUs can lead to a 100% increase in frame rate (e.g. twice the performance) This isn't idle speculation, or fanboy induced fantasy mathematics, but actual real world metrics.

It's like they contracted novice hardware engineers and/or no-nothing marketing and business owners made a series of really bad decisions with hardware and software.

For the hardware they're paying all of this money to try to even the playing field with games, when they really should have just spent that extra money on COGS so they can have a comparable system to Sony while also enabling software apps.

But no, because reasons.

This thread just shows to me the real MS coming through. The original x dudes are long gone. Can anyone confirm how many of the xbone team are from the rival losing set top box team that lost out?

Was there some kind of power struggle a few years ago?

I just find it funny how krazy ken was punished for the ps3 while kaz rose to the heavens and at the same time MS has imploded.

I love the unpredictability of this industry!

The final twist will be that wiiu wins this Gen!

Brand awareness is a powerful thing, and unfortunately the path of least resistance (getting what you've gotten in the past) is the typical action for most people. That's pretty frustrating. BUT, you could always try to convince people to make a better decision if you see it as such. I've only got one buddy who I occasionally play with, but once I make my console decision, I'll probably try to convince him to get the same console as me. What you suggest though is a powerful thing, and I think MS will end up with a lot of sales on this very basis. They played a very good game this generation, and unless you're keeping up on all the rumors, what reason would you have for believe anything would change?

Don't worry the dev confirmed it's going to be two separate versions..no porting. Besides they are using the Bluepoint engine. Chances are if anything the 3ds version might have issues

Why people always say that a nintendo only system cant work? I mean, it doesnt work right now but, would it work if nintendo was bigger? Its true that, when they had to carry their consoles, it wasnt enough. But the problem was not about the games not selling (they were system sellers and they sold a lot, a lot) it was about nintendo not beeing able to release enough games, right?

Yup, I'm talking worldwide sales figures. It's already sold around 3.5m, another 1.5m between now and November and another 3m from November is easily doable considering the software on the way from Nintendo...and that's even before you take the liklihood of a price cut into consideration.

They'll be able to afford a price cut due to a combination of the weaker Yen and production costs coming down. I can see both the PS4 and One having a decent launch each but I can't see either one of them shippingmover 2m units due to supply constraints and after Christmas they're both going to struggle to sell until April/May when people have started to recover financially from Christmas. I can't see either one of them being under $400, $449.99 or $499.99 would be my guess.

This scenario with msoft and Sony reminds me of apple and Samsung. If Sony was smart they'd contact the Samsung galaxy advertising team to cook up some ads. They're in a prime position to move in for the kill.

Would be funny if they got trolled like Verizon with the att type commercials. Good times!

I'm really starting to get the feeling everyone in charge at Microsoft has been around for a while got their jobs because of seniority and connections, not quality of their work. Their entire strategy just feels 10 years too old.

If you have been reading gaf lately you should have read rumors about all those things, then the news (confirmation) of those rumors, then more rumors that turned into more bad news... and so on. All that should be familiar and, whats worse, theres more (of course, its imposible to list everything). Also, theres the jokes about all those things... good job, microsoft.

So true....The only thing that matters is how the 10-20 year outlook is...Who is around and who is dominating. I still think that the xbox is making the right decision in trying to be your media center...A game console is not enough these days...

Topics on GAF move extremely fast, I've learned to keep up with the hot ones and skim the low-post threads. Even then my tab count gets pretty high. I imagine people who don't GAF for at least a couple hours a day can get behind in news pretty quickly. Amir0x's post provided a summarized list with links that's accessible and easy to read.

So you are saying that MS competing with 10 other electronics manufactures that offer similar media center functions with their devices is smarter than focusing on the video game console space that only has 2 real competitors? Makes sense.

We should all just pack up and go home then. If the future is a media center, I have that box checked several times over.

This has always been the truth.

I'm just amazed how awful Ms have been at selling the idea.

Just look at what Sony have been doing with the ps3 this Gen. It is he ultimate set top box and they've done it slowly with firmware updates. MS Ave been shouting the same stuff Sony was with ps3, Sony learned people are not ready for being sold a set top box as a primary item. People want a games console and the trolan horse tactic is their best option.

PS3 and in turn 4 already offer everthing Ms is shouting about including TV just look at playTV, ps3 has been doing the dvr shit for 6 years....hell Sony were doing that shit with ps2.... remember the psx?

MS have fucked up big time strategically. Gamers made 360 A success not the set top box crowd....Sony now realise this and are going for the whole games angle to get good press and a good rep with the core who will tell their non core mates how awesome the ps4 is...just like what happened with the 360.

Yes, yes it is. The idea of making a console some sort of media center is not new and has never really worked. In the end people buy this stuff for the games, and if people are not interested in those then they have like a million different options to suit their needs.

Do you think people buy PS3s for the sole reason of watching Blu Ray movies nowadays?
