TRUTHFACT: MS having eSRAM yield problems on Xbox One

Most graphical games have quiet some hand holding.
I rather have an dark souls then an Uncharted IMO

If Guerrilla and Naughty dog can make Dark souls with their graphics.
Lawd have mercy.

Plays Skyrim on the PC with the High Res Texture Packets.

Guess Panzer Dragoon Ortra must of sucked to.

and

Virtua Fighter 2 on Sega Saturn.

I suppose u have a point there if we're talking purely in game design terms what with the scripted setpieces and corridor shootouts but control-wise Uncharted 3 does feel pretty solid, along with its cover system. I actually thought that overall, Dark Souls look pretty neat graphically

Man, I think Ryse looks like GodOfWar3 x 2.

Read this: http://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/06/why-ryse-is-the-most-frustrating-game-of-e3/

Allow me to explain.

I’m on the battlefield. I’m stomping through the corpses of my comrades swinging my sword at anything that moves. I begin a combo, I slash twice and then whooom slow motion is initiated, shit is about to get ‘cinematic’. A button prompt hovers elusively above the sword I’m about to drive into the throat of my enemy… argh I’m too slow! The prompt flickers, disappears.

I missed it. Damn.

But then somehow, for some reason, I still complete the cinematic ‘kill’.

What?

Maybe it’s a bug I think, but no. Next time I deliberately press the wrong button. The kill goes ahead, no consequences. Then I try hitting no buttons whatsoever. The kill goes ahead. I put the controller on the table in front of me, the kill goes ahead.

What is going on here?

I ask one of the Crytek people hovering at the booth – is this a bug? Why am I completing kills when I hit the wrong button prompt? Or, worse, no button at all. Turns out it was a deliberate design choice.

“We don’t want the player to feel frustrated,” I am told.

Now, keep those silly thoughts to yourself

Why is there any doubt at all that BF4 was running on PC's? You can see the backspace key prompt in the top right corner during the single player demo and a good amount of people at the 64 player demo were using kbam.

People are going to be VERY disappointed when they boot up BF4 for the first time on the XB1 and hope to see E3 quality running @ 60 FPS.

Talk about smoke and mirrors. Any E3 demo running on a PC with a GTX780 is absolutely NOT representative of what the graphic fidelity on the final console game.

Well, dynamic lighting is a pretty big thing. I mean, baked lighting was uncommon in the big blockbuster titles even this generation lol. Having said that, I said the game looks great, it's just cutting several rather big corners. If you think I'm being unfair specifically to the XO, in your opinion what corners are the PS4 demo'd titles cutting? I've already said that DriveClub doesn't look up to par, but Killzone SF, InFamous SS and Division are looking pretty spectacular. Only issue I could really spot was pop in, but still, pretty minor.
No, it's not. Quite the contrary. Name the AAA blockbuster this gen and it will probably have pre baked lighting. Which isn't in any way or form a demerit to the game i might add.

Ofcourse, those who open it up on Christmas morning will be a bit surprized...

Son: "oh cool, dad! An Xbone! I always wanted two 7970s in a box to game 60fps @ 1080P and 4K!! , you shouldnt have, mustve costed a fortune!"

Dad: "Well, son. For what it can do, its a bargain. Just $499..."

Son: "Wow! What unbelieveable value!"

*Later that day*

*Press X to bark*

Son: Dad... I think you got ripped off...

Dual Cloud SLi crossfire!

Im 100% a console gamer (apart from playing Planetside 2 on my humble i5/HD6770). . . but I have to say, I would like to have that!

Also, do not be fooled, people. Everyone played BF4 multiplayer with Xbone controllers too, or EA+MS unprecedented partnership. Great advertising. But those werent dev kits at all. Why have two 7970s just to "lock it" at 1.2TFlops for the Xbone demo?

There were people with Mouse and Keyboard. Of course the elitist inside me told me. "They are the master race" while I quietly laughed at those using controllers.
WHY PICK A CONTROLLER IF YOU HAD THE CHOICE!? D=!!!

Why is this thread still open, or hasn't had it's title changed? They aren't down clocking anything, at worst there will be limited quantities at launch.

Deep down inside.....
I want...
that PC gaming rig with a PS4 DS4 :P !

Fixed it for you.
Its starts with...2013
*bark to bark*

Then next year...2014
*growl to growl*

Then the year after that...2015
*whelp to beg for food*

2016
*"barkbarkbark" to fire back mounted rocket launcher"
*barkbarkbarkbarkbark* dog to use knife in QTE.

That sums up COD :Ghosts 2,3,4 Hoping by then we get a new engine.

Same.. I mean. SOME games are just better with controller.

FPSs will never be those games.

Unless.... you want to play a FPS.. on a couch with a mouse and keyboard?
Me, personally, Im okay with controller or mouse/keyboard with FPSs... except, I get my ass handed to me when I use a controller lol. But from a comfort perspective, I like controllers better.

hehe, got a chuckle out of me.

Same when you heard something like "in engine" - be weary of a lot of the E3 claims. Like I said, it's not exclusive to one company or another. Tempered expectations are best course during E3.

I would say that actual inFamous gameplay looks pretty damn close to what they said was "in engine" at the PS4 announcement.

Can't he see potential? I think it looked good, but the showing was poor due to the build being quicktime heavy, something they said is not how the game will be. Lots of games have been bad at E3 and then turned out okay. Like.. oh.. I don't know.. Halo? Some games were huge hits at E3 and turned out to be less than spectacular too, like Spore.

When the game gets closer to ship, I think we'll be able to tell more.

Here's what it was running on:
XFX-7970-CrossFire.jpg

Basically that's what Thuway was hinting a couple of months ago...

FPSs will never be those games.

Oculus Rift in a few generations of revisions will definitely change that.
No one is going to be able / want to fumble around with a keyboard, and the hands aiming is going to be supreme

Not that I'm aware of.

Yeah, basically there is evidence for both situations. But the yield problems certainly look true.

Evidence for Down-clock: Lots of XB180 games were running on PCs and lack of complete specifications being announced. Where there is smoke...

Evidence Against: Significantly less 180s appear to be available vs the PS4.
This seems to indicate they are accepting the shitty yields, as a down-clock should mean they have more systems available. But it's tough to tell for sure because the PS4 is easier to produce.

So the downclock rumor was debunked?
I don't think a decision has been made yet on the matter. The yields are an issue, but MS might try a couple layout changes/optimizations to improve yield before making the decision to either supply constrain the Xbox One at launch or make it less powerful. I hope they don't downclock it.

That really isn't evidence that they didn't downclock it. They might have found a solution that's midway between such as minor downclocking (25-50 MHz) in exchange for moderate instead of terrible yields. For the PS4's sake I hope they adhere to the original 800 MHz clocks.

True, we may never know...

Yeah, I think they were just floating the possibility around. We won't know until final dev kits come out.

It never made much sense to me that they would downclock to improve yields. If anything, maybe the One was originally supposed to have 48 or 64MB of ESRAM and they had to cut that down. Or maybe it had the 18 CUs that the PS4 does but they disabled 6 of them. 800mhz shouldn't be a hard number to hit on a 28nm process with a 2 year old architecture.

The APU is humongous, that's what's causing the problems.

Either way, it's less powerful than PS4, so I wouldn't expect them to release the specs, downclock or no.

Anyone who played bf4 with a controller: did they fix sprint so its like consoles? And did they fix the weapon selection for controllers?
