Suspect is currently not responding. Saw this on my watch via CNN, trying to find a link, but it is in the banner right now.

Edit: found a link.

CNN said:
A Transportation Security Administration agent was attacked by a person with a machete at Louis Armstrong International Airport in New Orleans on Friday night, Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand said.

A law enforcement officer shot the suspect three times. The suspect was taken to a hospital, where authorities said he was unresponsive.

The TSA agent suffered a cut to the arm, Normand said.

Why do you say that?

Because history indicates that's exactly what's going to happen. Some will argue he should have used a taser/alternative weapon, others will argue he was correct in using it, et cetera. The circle will be unbroken! It's basically how every single officer-related shooting thread goes. I don't think this will be any different, even with me calling it out so early.

They're hitting their F5 buttons until the race gets reported.

Shit.

Tragic. Dumb.

Crazy thing is that TSA agents aren't armed or law enforcement. They're basically poorly trained doormen. An expensive and ineffective window dressing in the name of safety.

i think we need to wait for more information. always multiple sides. could have been the dull edge of the machete...

Oh shit we Kenshin now

Maybe the machete was possessed by a demon who took control of the guy when he bought the machete earlier today at Home Depot. There's really no way of knowing.

I'm more than okay with the TSA (or cops, or anyone for that matter) shooting crazy guys with machetes.

The agents should have at least shot the at the hands to disarm this guy before trying to kill him :/

Life isn't a QTE segment.

Were the TSA agents being assholes or something?

(Wasp spray? A ... machete?! ... I don't understand. $100 bucks says the suspect was mentally ill ._.)
Lol que? TSA being a holes still wouldn't justify someone attacking them with a machete. Especially when TSA is unarmed.

Twitter:

63 YOA black man named Richard White approached the Terminal B checkpoint and attacked TSA agents with wasp spray and a machete. He was shot 3 times by a police officer and is unresponsive at the hospital. Airport is back open, but terminal B is still closed.

Scary. Busy area too with a lot of civilians around. Pretty lucky that there wasn't more injuries and/or perhaps deaths. Attacking officers with wasp spray and a machete... christ.

dude had a machete and was attacking people at airport security

no problem with the officer shooting in this situation

not sure why there would be

Quick thinking by that agent, grabbing a piece of luggage to use as a shield to protect himself from the machete. I have no problem with them shooting a guy chasing another guy down with a machete. That spread on the hits though, once in the left thigh, once in the left chest, and once in the left face, lucky he didn't hit any innocent travelers.

Oh, I don't mean to say it was justified, I'm trying to figure out if the guy was provoked (just snapped), or if there was a reason behind it.

A machete and wasp spray seems deliberate, not stuff you just happen to have lying around... but why the TSA? Why an airport?

Crazy? Maybe trying to get onto a plane? From the CNN report it sounds like the guy went straight for the TSA pre-line, sprayed the first TSA agent he encountered, went through that check point and sprayed the second agent, drew the machete on the third and cut her, then went after the second again, who used a piece of luggage as a shield and drew him away. Could have been way worse had the guy had better weapons or a gun.
