Which ep is this?

Eye of the beholder?

I'm assuming it's He's Alive

Either He's Alive or The Man in the Bottle. From the laugh im guessing Man in the Bottle.

Just reminded me of this

I still can't get used to the weird motion smoothing or whatever they did to these episodes. Not constant but especially on close-ups it's really distracting.

I thought this was just me. Yeah its certainly weird and off putting considering how much I've seen some of these episodes already.

Those six episodes were shot on video as a cost cutting measure. It didnt work out so they returned to film.

And yes i agree. They are hard to watch and feel "off."

Tonight's story on The Twilight Zone is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This, as you may recognize,is a map of the United States, and there's a little town there called Peaksville maintenance service elevator. Still in operation. Waiting for you.

Not for long! Tomorrow's the last day :(

...in California Adventure at least.

That Nazi returning to the concentration camp episode still hits hard. Damn.

That's one of the best episodes. Most underrated since it should be talked about in the top ten but isn't. It has a excellent mood to it right immediately from the start with the hotel receptionist not even wanting to say the name of the concentration camp.

It's not fair! Winter vacations are ending and the crowds are leaving! There was time now!

I did like that there are items from the show sprinkled throughout the queue (The thimble from The 13th Floor, the stopwatch from A Kind of Stopwatch, the fortune telling machine from Nick of Time, the book from To Serve Man, etc.)

No, this isn't in regards to the ones on video. They've applied motion smoothing to every episode.

Edit: Hm, from last year's thread:

It's something SyFy is doing to them because Netflix's HD episodes look natural and much better. SyFy's motion smoothing (or whatever it is) looks like ass. I watched part of one episode and it made me a little queasy.

I haven't seen the BluRay's, but from what I've heard, they look amazing. Definitely no motion smoothing involved.

Edit: Apparently SyFy isn't using motion smoothing (which didn't make sense to me anyway, but I knew something was off) they're just speeding up the broadcast. Presumably to leave more time for commercials. Shame on you SyFy, shame.
Weird.

Yeah. The increased speed of the episodes make them look awful. Something else I noticed last year and this year both is that these are new cuts of the episodes. They've added back in stuff that was cut from the syndication versions of the episodes and have cut scenes that were originally in the syndicated versions.

For example, last night in The Howling Man, they cut the scene where
the howling man transformed into his true devil form.
That scene was always in the syndicated version. Earlier in the day, in A World of His Own, there were scenes put back near the end that were originally cut in a couple weird places.

They cut that scene from The Howling Man? That's crazy! It's the best part!

So what did they do? Just have the door blow open and that was it?

Yeah. The way the edited it,
the guy let the devil out of his cell and the devil used his power to knock him out. The guy watched him walk away and then he was suddenly in full devil form at the end of the hallway. The entire transformation was cut.

They also cut one of the most pivotal scenes in the episode where the Sun is coming toward the Earth.

Why was that guy walking around in a coat with slacks but no shirt? Shouldn't the coat have been the first thing to go? And long pants? A sleeveless shirt and shorts would've made more sense.

Hmm. Don't remember. I'll have to see it again. I saw it last year.

Didn't they not show one of the characters dying?

Except for the 10:30 episode, these viewer choices are hard to choose from. You can't lose with either episode. The only exception is the 10:30 episode. The Masks is by far the better episode.

Shatner might be considered a little hammy but he really does pull off a man with a phobia very well. Even the little uncomfortable twitches of his lips and other bits of nervous body language really give away how uncomfortable he feels on the plain and that's before any of the crazy shit starts happening.

I was hoping they do a full series marathon again, like last year, but mix up the order instead of showing it in broadcast order.
Broadcast order makes it tough to see favorites. But as long as we get as many eps and days as possible I'm happy. The New Years and 4th of July marathons are highlights of my year.

One of my all time favs (The Invaders).

Can barely recognize Agnes Moorehead from Bewitched fame, without all the makeup and the flaming red do :)

Holy shit, I've misinterpreted this ep. I never realized that
the woman was an alien and the ship was earthlings, I always thought that she was human and ship was government testing

My misinterpretation could be a result of me not watchingt the episode more than a handful of times and not paying full attention:P

Does the woman never say anything in the entire episode? I missed the first few minutes but she basically just grunts and groans and such through the entire thing.

You know Grissom, we really are The Invaders.

Another classic Matheson episode.

Edit: I've seen The Masks so many times I kind of hate it now.
