Let's all just take a second to talk about Harry Dean Stanton playing his guitar, living that life.
Harry Dean Stanton was always cool.
Man, Twin Peaks has come a LONG way.
My girlfriend and I can't decide our comfort level with this scene. I mean, it's amusing in a way, but it's also...
Well, Dougie isn't really capable of consent, and Janey-E doesn't seem to give much of a shit about paying attention to his complete lack of normal human behavior.
It's not malicious on her part - the woman is thirsty, I guess - but it's still a little sketchy.
This is the truth. I was dying for James' song to end, but now I'm dying for someone to upload HDS' song to youtube so I can listen to it over and over.Harry Dean Stanton was always cool.
I don't understand where this sentiment is coming from.
I found the episode as engrossing as ever.
Any theories why Laura appeared in front of Gordon?
Cause the plot was coming together in 7 and 9, and 8 was a amazing spectacle. This was just kinda slow.
This did move the plot along, though?
It's great that this season is finally getting to the point where they want to go with this. However, like many are saying here, it should have been already laid out a couple of episodes before. This pace for the show has been terrible for it, I can't exactly say I'm excited about it. I just want to see how Lynch concludes this tale because I've given up on them wanting giving a spotlight on TP's people being effected of the Black Lodge more and giving us Coop back without it being rushed or tying up the story of the entire series with more than half of the season out now. Even if they tie things together, it just feels like stuff that happened before wasn't worth being bothered or could have been cut shorter. I wonder if I would have felt the same way about this show if they had released it all at once as the season was intended to be seen. I cannot help but feel like this is becoming a Prometheus-situation where the film/show feels so divisive with the audiences watching it instead a feeling like a return to form. It think it shows when people feel like debating about how the show is going too. But I suppose we'll wait for this season to fully wrap up to decide where this show will land.
As far as this episode goes, that sex scene was probably the best gag with Dougie since maybe the first episode with him. However, it's still a pain that he's still stuck in Vegas. Also he continues to have no developments. Things just happen to him. Honestly I just don't like the idea that Lynch is just gonna turn on the switch and he's back and oh wait it's the end of the show. It's just doesn't feel earned and I would have liked a Dougie that is progressively getting better but doesn't feel like it's Coop yet. Might be more satisfying that way. But nope, Lynch can't even do that lol. Kinda would like Kyle to actually act with Naomi rather than just be a statue (other than him smiling like an idiot, I will admit that shit was gold). Rest of the episode stuff was good. Assholes in crime Richard and Chad being dicks. Lucy possibly knowing Chad did something. Hawk and Log Lady ;-;. Also sounds like a showdown at the place where our Hastings entered the zone is gonna happen. Hopefully this show can get into full swing next episode as I will be hopefully seeing it at Comic Con, but I should be wary though right?
For those who don't appreciate Tammy... I'm probably getting into trouble here but did you think David Bowie was a good actor? Especially tonight it dawned on me that Lynch described her as other worldly and I wonder if it was that quality that made him seek out David originally. Now Tammy is no Bowie but I do see that kind of alien / weirdness in the presentation.
I'm not really looking forward to random casino owners trying to kill Dougie tbh.
He's also better at just about everything except speaking. I don't remember Annie giving his dong such a glowing review!A part of me doesn't want Cooper to regain his memories. Look at how happy and innocent he is.
What? ...what? Wat?! In THIS part? This was one of the most consistently well-edited parts of the show. You're talking about the show that introduced Candie, Sandie and Mandie with a scene they weren't even a part of.This week was a terrible episode with some great moments. Editing felt all over the place.
They're great characters with even better sidekicks. Why wouldn't you want to see more of them? They're more fun than most characters living in the awful junkie dumpster town of Twin Peaks.I'm not really looking forward to random casino owners trying to kill Dougie tbh.
Was it her ridiculous way of walking that threw me off or was the shot of Tammy walking down the hallway to the hotel room door slowed down a slight bit? I truly thought something bad was about to happen.
This episode had some beautiful little moments (outside of the horrifying ones of course).

Oh man, finally watched Fire Walk With Me this weekend, cool seeing Fat Trout Trailer Park making a return! I didn't realize the connection when I saw the film, but the sign when he was playing his song connected everything.
Yep, that's what they are. Great characters. Is there an echo in here?""""""Great characters"""""""

Did we ever figure out what that black box thing in Buenos Aires was?
Did we ever figure out what that black box thing in Buenos Aires was?
This is why I wish they released all of this show. I'm already forgetting so much shit. Also what's going on with the Renaults, the floating quarter druggie guy, etc, etc...
The showtime execs said before the season even began airing that the story of season 3 is the story of Dale Cooper returning to Twin Peaks, not the story that occurs after that or the mysteries he solves there, but the return of him to Twin Peaks. My take on that is that this season will take until the very last episode or two to get both Dale Cooper back to his old ways and in Twin Peaks. I don't have any expectations outside of that.
Now, the one thing that makes this weird is that this season also supposedly "wraps things up" and there won't be a need for a season 4 past its conclusion, even if opportunities are there. I don't see how you can resolve even just the major threads with Coop not getting back to Twin Peaks till the end or even from where we're at now. Obviously, some of the things I'm considering "must resolve" aren't viewed that way by the showrunners.
No, but are we sure it's in Buenos Aires? Albert said the text to Diane was pinged back to Mexico and we know it was relayed to Diane by a third part from Dopple Coop, who was in South Dakota at the time. I think Buenos Aires was just speculation since that's where Jefferies went missing and the last place Dopple Coop was seen by the FBI before now.
Pretty sure it said Buenos Aires before going into the building.
I recall Lynch saying in an interview that there are indeed "loose ends" that will potentially be tied up if given another season to resolve them in. He said that's contingent on reception if that happens ie ratings. Fingers crossed for that season 4 announcement at sdcc this week.
What the fuck? When did he say this?
Jesus Christ, we went through 118 pages of people reiterating that the ratings don't matter because there's not going to be anything else and the story will be wrapped up.
He never said the story would have loose ends. No reason to assume that.
I hope that the ending to this season is decisive. They can just wrap up any loose ends in the Final Dossier.
The Secret History wasn't 'neccesary' and there's no reason to expect 'The Final Dossier' to be either. It's just extra stuff for fans. The fact that you need a book written by Frost after this 'final' season speaks volumes, whether you think it's a positive or negative thing. Honestly of course the hardcore like me and you will read this but the fact that a book might be a necessary thing makes it sounds like it's Frost having to explain what Lynch is trying to do, which means he might not have wrapped it as well as we are hoping.
Will there be more Twin Peaks after this?
I have no idea. It depends on how it goes over. You're going to have to wait and see.

You really think all these strands are gonna get wrapped up in the next 8 parts? I took it as smaller plot lines, I'm fairly confident that was separate from the overall arc of Coop "returning" to the town.
We'll see of course, but these last few episodes have been so aggressive about tying together plot threads that I do think mostly everything will get its due.
Is it all done now? Have you finished everything?
Theres still a lot of loose ends, deliverables, and things like this. But its, you know, a long way down the road now. Its coming out May 21.
The existence of a data book / supplemental materials doesn't necessarily mean the main story is incomplete/unsatisfying. I consider season 2's finale to be incredibly powerful and conclusive, but there were open questions all over the place - some of which were addressed in the Secret History.
