People still calling Mr. C Bob Cooper.
Triggered forever.
Wonderful to see. The world is finally ready for Lynch's work.

Can we all just take a moment and marvel at the fact that we're speculating about fuckin Twin Peaks in 2017? How cool is that?
The gum finally came back in style ;-;
I've been thinking about the meta elements of this show, especially in light of Lynch starting FWWM off with a TV being destroyed...
Spoilers for all 4 parts:
First there's the fact that a young guy is forced to watch a glass box that does nothing for an extended period of time, and has to have his complete attention on it.
The pace of this season is slow, which is somewhat parallel to this. On top of this, we have the knowledge that a millionaire funded the box, much like how Showtime funded the show. Then, when he has a girl over and they start getting frisky instead of watching... they're murdered. Lynch feels pretty passionately about there being a 'right' way to approach watching film (his commentary on watching a movie on a cellphone) so this adds to that idea.
The message here seems to be "you need to pay attention and appreciate the slow moments".
The feel of the show in general is off from the original, but at times it comes back.
This happens especially during Bobby's moment staring at Laura's picture. We get the melodrama. We get the love theme. It all seems rather out of place at this point though.
It's in contrast to a Twin Peaks where there's no emotional music playing all of the time. To me it almost felt like a big FU to nostalgia. Bobby just needed a minute to get over it.
Of course... then we get the quirky as hell Wally Brando scene...
I'm sure there are more examples that I'm not thinking about at the moment, but it seems like Lynch and Frost are really operating on a meta-level with a lot of this. In some ways it seems like they're directly addressing the expectations and the fanbase, and at times even poking fun at them. I'm not sure if there's some bigger thematic purpose for that though, or if it's just another aspect of the show.
Albert and Gordon have always been the low-key best characters in the show.THERE THEY ARE ALBERT! FACES OF STONE
...
Why is that so funny?
Okay I think I'm completely obsessed over this.
Even problems I had initially are slowly being overidden because of how much I like the characters and situations. Like the casino sequence is already a classic for me, despite it running forever people are quoting it in their daily lives. It's memorable.
Well I think this work is just much more compelling. Like, I showed the four episodes to a group that has never seen Twin Peaks or even any Lynch movies, and they were so captivated. I feel like if I showed FWWM to them, they would've been bored and depressed, ha.Wonderful to see. The world is finally ready for Lynch's work.
Can't wait to see howwill find out aboutHawk. I forget, it's the name of the street, no? Man, I need to rewatch these four episodes asap.Arrowhead
But...Can't wait to seeCoop going back to Twin Peaks and drinking damn good coffee + eating cherry pie while doing thumbs up

Don't lie. You know you want all the pie and coffee.I hope the show never lowers itself to that.

Finished the first season and it was kinda boring. I really am only interested in watching 21st century TV, but I just saw season two is like 3x the length of the first, ugh.
...Wut?
I think mostly everyone in this thread agreed before the episodes dropped that this was the best method of spoiler tagging them. 3 & 4 haven't aired on tv yet, and not everyone has access to the app for on demand. Besides, after this week it's one episode per week for months until the two part finale and we won't need to do spoiler tags. I don't see any problem with enduring spoiler tags for a couple more days.
If you have Showtime on Cable, you have access to the app. If you only buy it through an app service, you have access to the app. Anyone that is watching this has access to the app.
Unless you're not paying for the eps, in which case I don't care.
Fan service is below lynch. Something that pandering would be gross. Busting out catchphrases would be so lame
I mean, I don't think it's pandering to have a character act like a character acted before, but okay.
It would be. It's giving the audience what they want to have him drink coffee and do a thumbs up. Episode 4 is the closest we should get.
Ep 4 Spoilers. I love this scene and the delivery so much lol.
Why am I so satisfied watching Cooper play the slots over and over again ??
