Well /tv/ looks just as cancerous as ever.

That is 4chan for you, haha. But It is nice to see Twin Peaks being discussed everywhere. I like how the more surreal abstract weirdness is more loved than how it was in the 90s. It shows how much tv has grown with the internet.

I honestly thing the Mr Jackpot/HELLLLLOOOO scenes are amazing. It starts out kinda funny, then gets old, then is so dragged out that it's fucking hilarious. Peak Lynch humor.

There's a possibility that the rancho rosso scenes are a different timeline. Ben mentions to Jerry that a billionaire will come to twin peaks. Could that be Mr Jackpots?

That was a very interesting interview, this was my favorite bit (which was right at the end):

Kyle certainly makes it sound like 'Baby' Cooper won't be around for too much longer and that extended scenes with him are completely the intent, and seems he's excited for us to see what's coming up and suggest to pick up on things that start to connect.

I actually got the complete opposite impression from that quote. The interviewer says that they thought the coffee would bring Cooper back, and Kyle responds "Yeah, I thought that too." There seems to be an implicit "but nope." on the end of that.

And "It’s going to be interesting to see how that tension plays out and how the audience responds to it." makes it sound like Babby Coop is going to drag on, and Kyle is wondering how the audience will handle that. There's going to be this tension where you keep waiting for Cooper to come back, but nope, not yet. Kind of like how the casino scene drags on, writ large.

I hope I'm wrong, though.

There's a theory that
The Clock machine Cooper went to sent him to 2003 instead of 2015, that's why the machine said "3" and "15", he almost went to 2015 but was stopped by the blind lady and instead went to 2003. To be seen if this has any merit.

I just finished rewatching episode 4 and Kyle McLachlan's timing is so hilarious when he says Mr. Jackpots and points to himself. I think it's my favorite moment in that episode and there are a ton of contenders.

I also just love the exchange between Cole and Denise. As a huge X-Files fan, Denise's line about loving to say Federal Bureau of Investigation made me chuckle pretty hard.

And as people were discussing earlier, I definitely think Twin Peaks the town has indeed blown up in size, between the crowd at the Bang Bang Bar and all the new deputies (I love that they still have Lucy out front, but they have an actual dispatcher with modern technology in the back) clearly it's no longer a tiny town. I'm curious to see how that'll all play out when (if?) the show transitions back to Twin Peaks.

Oh, wow, what a bitch if that's true.
(Granted it could maybe have been for his benefit in some undisclosed manner)

Has this been posted already? The Booper/Jack scene with classic Badalamenti music.
I'm enjoying the new series so far, but the lack of classic Twin Peaks music, or any music in some cases, makes the show feel so... empty? I'm not even sure that's the word that I'm looking for.

I actually really like the lack of music. A lot of what's happening - like Baby Coop - is both comedic and sad/serious/spooky and even nostalgic. Without musical cues to clue you into the "correct" tone, the scenes have an easier time preserving that mix, I feel.

I just hope we get something as powerful as Sycamore Trees when it really matters.

Holy shit. That's so much better. And it feels 100% like classic Twin Peaks.

I don't mind the lack of music in a lot of the new locations, but there's absolutely no reason why they couldn't use some classic TP tracks during the segments that take place in the town. I mean, look at the bunny scene. It's so much better : /

And speaking of "Sycamore Tree", here's an awesome cover by a band called Niitch

I like the lack of music too, it adds to the "something is off" vibe to this whole thing so far. Like you want it to feel like familiar Twin Peaks, and Lynch drops in just enough but it's never quite enough to scratch that itch. I still think it's building toward that, and I think it'll have more music as it goes. But this story so far is disconnected from the town and is showing how the influence of the Lodge is happening elsewhere, and because of that, and the fact that we haven't been in Twin Peaks proper, I don't think it should feel like Twin Peaks proper.

The lack of music is a major contributor feeling that lack of Twin Peaks quirk, but maybe Lynch wants to branch out (evolve?) into something else/different first. I think when/if the story goes back to the town, and paths begin to cross more back there, that we'll start getting more of that quirk back. If this is his true intention, it's goddamned brilliant.

The end of Part 2 was better than Sycamore Trees.

The scenes with the music added back really don't work for me, especially with the digital photography. Feels like a parody act. I personally love the lack of soundtrack and focus on natural sound.

i just watched episode 3. was laughing with joy for most of the show. so weird. i almost lost it when the light was coming out of the power socket. the sequence where he keeps winning at slots is one of the best things ever.

this is blowing my mind, surpassing all expectations. this is Eraserhead X Twin Peaks. experimental stop motion animation and mind bending sound work. 18 hours of this???? holy crap.

So I'm making my way through this series for the first time in preparation for season three.

Currently on episode 12 of season two. And yikes. Since the resolution of Laura's murder, it's like "why are we here?". Feels kind of pointless watching James fix some dudes car, Donna feels like an afterthought and Cooper is being investigated by the DEA? Just not feeling it.

I know I SHOULD watch these episodes, but is there any decent recap of season two? I'm just forcing myself to watch at this point. Know the season two finale is a return to form and important leading into season three, but this crap in the middle is really putting me off.

there is a bad guy his name is windom earle he used to work with cooper but then he turned bad.

now you're ready to watch the season 2 finale, then fire walk with me, and finally the new series.

I actually like the bunny scene better without music for the reason I mentioned. Silence lets the humor speak for itself without muffling the less pronounced emotions in the scene.

That cover is really cool.

I just played those hump episodes in the background while doing other things. It's worth watching some of the episodes leading up to the finale to get the proper context for it.

Completely agree. The comedic moments in 3 and 4 landed so much harder for me because of this.

I actually think they landed better because of it too. I don't think that casino sequence would have been good with music either for example. Just Kyle's unflinching performance there sold it enough.

I liked the music in that kitchen scene though with his kid and Watts as nothing was really happening, he was just being silly with that fucking tie and how it went along with the morning bustle of Jayne-E (lol) hurrying to make breakfast.

I kind of feel this way but it's probably for the best that their use of music is different, even during the scenes in the town. Sure they're capable of bringing back Laura's theme and using it well but the Wally scene would have been ruined by any quirky tune they would have dusted off for it.

Don't listen to this guy, while TP season 2 hits a well-known slump midway through, just stick with it. By the end of season 2 the series hits another peak and the season finale is the very best episode and absolutely amazing. At the same time it's indispensable viewing required for season 3!

Alright, opinion time. The worst actor here isn't FBI agent ridic ass, it's bloody Lucy. Not feeling her at all in these episodes.

Also, I like this more than the OG series easily at the moment.

I enjoy how much the new season leans into the surrealist aspects of the series and the change in tone.

Just read a theory online that Mr. C might actually be possessed by the soul of Windam Earle!

It explains the use playing cards, the metal case to login to the FBI info, his meeting with Briggs and his search for the coordinates.

What do you think?

Doesn't really make sense with the ending of season 2, but you never know I guess.

Has it been pointed out yet that Dougie was the name of the Mayor or whatever in season 2? Dougie Milford.

yeah, honestly the season 2 episodes are watchables aside from the James' parts.

and what ever that Nadine stuff was

edit: IIRC, the last three episodes were pretty good, not only the finale

Don't forget Hank, Donna, Ed, Catherine, Norma, Harold, Audrey's replacement boyfriend, the Eckhardt/Packard subplot, Little Nicky, and probably others.
