Power Rangers is really going the extra mile for story arcs.
Fun fact: In Japan, he's voiced by Kazuki Yao, the voice of Franky on One Piece.

I believe they already had too much money pumped into merchandise based on their original looks & didn't want to cause brand confusion or overcrowd the market. New Zord toys were enough.
Yep, beginning that storyline with the Shogunzords.
Everyone was already familiar with the Zyuranger/MMPR costumes and I guess they'd rather sell more of the same/similar merch than introduce a new line that made the old stuff obsolete.
Also, I guess by this point the studio had more money so they could film their own scenes instead of rely entirely on Japanese footage for the suit & monster stuff.

He does get covered in food pretty much every episode, maybe it contributed and the rangers felt bad.

I like how the tenga warriors speak, gives them more personality compared to the previous Putties.

I kind of love how they started off as those kinds of characters, but by the end ended up having more character development than many rangers, and being some of the most genuinely heroic people in the show's history.
This stream has really made me enjoy them way more than I did as a kid.

Sakamoto joined prior to the switch to ninja suits. The US suit actors just seem to do better with those costumes and they're getting more inventive with location.
