You have 500 total steps to navigate the Safari Zone and collect the Gold Teeth and the Surf HM. There's already not a particularly large margin for error for normal human players.

It's a bit hit and miss fine in the dark solo with some repels, but several thousand people and twitch lag? It will happen just very slowly.
