Twitch streaming from PS4 is now live

Hey guys, a question.

My upload is 2mb. Not great.

What would happen if I switched the PS4 to 480p when broadcasting? Would I be able to stream higher quality?

So when you're streaming can you only talk to the chat with your headset or can you hear your team/friends in game as well?

Boom signed up.

I'm gonna start doing PS4 streams and if I end up liking it ill expand to PC.

twitch.tv/monstersteve

Hopefully I have no issues since im running Fios 50/50.

Is there a good way to have Twitch up on my laptop or iPad or something so I can see people's comments and not have to share my screen space while I'm broadcasting?

I log in, go to the stream page, pop the chat out to another window, then close the stream page. Works pretty well.

Just go to your Twitch page?

Having the twitch page open while you stream can, 1: cause a gigantic audio feedback loop that can get out of control on you quickly and 2: kill your bandwidth, which is more important than ever since the PS4 dictates your bitrate.

I don't know if this is the most appropriate thread for this, but it's at least the most recent and relevant in order to get the discussion started.

I'm a partner and admin on Twitch, therefor I can create Twitch Teams. What if I were to make one for GAF? I already fired off a message to EviLore to get his blessing on this, but let's assume he approves and figure out the basic details now so I can get it setup by the end of the day, before the official PS4 launch.

Specifically I need a team name(such as NeoGAF), short team name(GAF) and URL(http://twitch.tv/team/neogaf) to create it. The rest, such as color, banner, and logo can come later. Membership would of course be open to all GAF members.

What's a Twitch Team? Here's the Twitch Admin Team I'm on, and there are many others.

Count me in if approved.

That's what I'm going to do. I don't like all that space being taken up so ill watch chat from my iPad or PC.

Registered. Now if only I could get a name change on twitch. I hate my name lol but too many followers to bail on it.

Hey everybody, I'm gonna start live Twitching some Killzone, Knack, and AC4 here in just a min. You can check it out here.

I'm also open to requests for any of the free PSN/PS+ games as well!

Is there any way to edit your info after you've closed the registration page? When I go back to the link it wants me to fill out the form again as if I'm registering. Not a big deal, just curious.

Anyone having problems connecting to chat when using Twitch with Chrome (i'm using 31.0.1650.57)? It connects fine in Firefox 25 but I use Chrome as my primary browser on Mac. Known issue?

So its the PS4 that determines the broadcasting quality? Or are there options?

If it's the PS4 that decides, what is it based on? Upload speed?

WRONG

PS4 does not determine broadcast quality, User does. When on the Broadcast screen, press OPTIONS on your controller and it will bring up broadcasting options where you can chose between

BEST GOOD and other lower items

So is streaming not working at the moment or something? I see nothing when I view my profile on twitch. I'm extremely new to this!

It's working just fine. I'm broadcasting at www.twitch.tv/lifeexpectancy and watching my own stream on my laptop.

I'm both broadcasting and viewing over wifi but it still seems to be doing decent.

It's very simple. I didn't even have a twitch account. Just created one then hit the share button on my ps4 and it prompted me to log in via the website within the PS4 operating system, then it automatically started streaming.

I checked out a few shadowfall streams, I felt that the bitrate was too low as when ever the screen had movement the image was becoming really chunky and a mess.

Ok can anyone tell me if when you stream a game on ps4 on to twitch and you have the check mark for archived video checks why it doesnt save the video that you just saved.

Do you think they got rid of that because of copyright infringement ?

It kinda sucks I expected to be able to take my content that I made and do what I want with it but nope it just gives you the ability to stream thats it.

Its also very hard to stream with twitch because you have like 1000s of the same streams and everyone is really just watching one or a few people for that game unless its your close friends.

Twitch archive for ps4 streams is disabled for the time being, probably due to the over whelming data needed to store so many video streams.

Twitch did a blog about it at some point, need to dig it up.

So they will be able to archive at some point and the ones that were streamed will show up at some point? Thats all I care about.

Anything you stream right now will not be stored at all because it's not enabled, only stuff streamed after they enable ps4 archives in the future.

So is there a setting which just overlays the camera feed and not the comments so that the grey background isn't shown and gameplay is full screen? It seems to be that way on the Gametrailers twitch stream now.

If I had to guess it's glitchy twitch back end code, because stuff always happens with twitch #kappa

Damn, was hoping to get some of my streams archived. Honestly I'm just interesting in archiving all of my play throughs start to finish. Would be kind of awesome to have videos of all the games I've played up on the web.

It would be cool but the storage used would be huge for everyone, most likely why we are not seeing it yet and if I had to guess any, Twitch might force it into their monthly payment option so they make money from it.

Personally the quality of streams from ps4 seem rather poor in high moving games, Knack looked great but Killzone has a lot of jpeg style compression going on.

Also does streaming on your ps4 really force that grey frame into your television feed as well as the twitch feed? seems so bad to do that, like watching your own stream while playing in a window sized box. Why is it not overlaid when the video is compressed behind the scenes?

I suppose I can start collecting names and channels to add if/when the Team is up.

Quote this post for a link to a registration form for the Twitch Team.

Not much of a streamer (yet) but this could change when more competitive games come out. Lately I've just been streaming Knack.
