To be fair....illumination has always been a mediocre studio in terms of writing and direction and humor. I was hoping maybe the nintendo collab would help, but looks like their mediocrity came through regardless.

I wished pixar or the team who did zootopia would get mario. But nope...illumination. for most parents, people, especially kids, these studios blend together. But for nerd like me we know illumination is the worst of the bunch specifically

I'll be honest, I was about to say "well there was a time when you could have family movies that were actually written well and worked for both adults and kids (see: Pixar from 95-07 and Shrek 1 + 2)", but we did literally just get Puss in Boots 2.

Being a kids movie doesn't excuse it being ass.

No, he didn't. The Mario Bros movie is actually loved by general audiences that actually saw the movie, from what I gathered around the internet. Hardly any bad impression of it. It's just the movie critics that don't like the movie.

And in terms of worldwide box office, it looks like it will surpass either Sonic film as the highest grossing Video game movie of all time. It's expected to rake in $225 million globally when it opens.

Zootopia was so bloody good. Even for an older cnt like me. Sonic was pretty good too actually.
