Not a Despicable Me fan?Illumination has never made anything good, so I'm not surprised.
I’m pretty sure the receptionist/HR manager cohort is bigger re minions.I will take my kids, they will love it.
Illumination may not make plots adults like, but kids fucking love movies like minions. Literally that’s the point and they are good at that. This movie will do great In the box office.
Did anyone ever enjoy Mario for the plot?
Hard disagree. I think many of Illumination's movies are great. Tough crowd on here! That's not my point.
Illumination makes average movies that kids love, so it's expected that Mario would also be an average movie that kids will love. That's all.
Exactly, these scolds expect them to push boundaries and agenda in a kids movie.... I bet they were wishing princess peach rescues Mario to subvert the patriarchy or some bs. Too much "boundary" pushing and you get shit like last jedi where it is no longer about what it should be.From the studio that brought you humanity’s most annoying creation, The Minions. What did these people even expect?
It’s a kid/family movie first (and nothing wrong with that).
Super Mario RPG/ Paper Marios had great plots before they stopped being RPGs. For sure.Did anyone ever enjoy Mario for the plot? Just enjoy the ride and fun. Hopefully it's still fun, right?
Incel Bowser“? What the actual fuck?
The one with Trey Parker was alright. Outside of that I haven't liked them. My kid does though so that's all that matters to the studio. Not a Despicable Me fan?
jurrasic park was in no-way for kids.A ton of kids films have a meaningful plot. Short Circuit. Flight of the Navigator. Jurassic Park. Toy Story.
Fuck them kids. Mario is for people who started gaming in 1984.From the studio that brought you humanity’s most annoying creation, The Minions. What did these people even expect?

Of course. The Mario and Luigi games were also great storywise (for those who say Mario can't have a good story). I would love a Mario movie along those lines. I've no idea why this mediocre "child" movie (that a lot of people here are excited to watch) gets so ardently defended here. It's a bit sad because the animation and storytelling in the recent Luigi's Mansion was excellent. I'd take a full-length film from the teams that animated those games, keeping the slower pace and more subtle comedy from Luigi's nervous character.
That would be better than another ADHD-fest like I'm sure this feature film will be.
I don't think anyone is defending it, just that no one was expecting it to be amazing story wise. My expectations is fun.Of course. A lot of people seem to be trying to deflect criticism. "Mario has no story" "it's for kids!" "were you expecting Citizen Kane?" etc My issues with the movie go far beyond story/plot. A simple story is fine, most movies don't really have complex plots, but they get by with good writing and direction. This one simply looks and sounds obnoxious in every way, just like everything Illumination has made. The cheap repetitive "humor", bizarre choice of voice actors, overbearing character animation/acting.. it's so jarring and unappealing, and way overdone at this point. Wish people demanded better.I don't think anyone is defending it, just that no one was expecting it to be amazing story wise. My expectations is fun.
a kids movie that only kids like is a bad kids movie. When adults complain a movie for kids is for kids. I’m sure my kids will have a blast.
because kids movies used to do exactly that???Exactly, these scolds expect them to push boundaries and agenda in a kids movie...
