My son was never into Mario he's more of a ipad gamer (Roblox, Minecraft and some drifting game). After the movie all he wants to play is Super Mario 3d World and Mario Kart 8 for the past 3 days on my Wii U. He hasn't touched his iPad since. I wouldn't be surprised if the movie will also have the same effect and influence people to buy and play Mario games. I may have to buy my son a Switch which he never cared for either. Damn you NintendoI wonder if the performance will result in higher sales for Mario Kart, Odyssey and Switch. Much like TLOU, Witcher, and Cyberpunk.
I dunno if Nintendo is advertising these games during this period.

There was a Zelda ad at our showing and the whole theatre started buzzing. In France before the movie there was a gigantic ad featuring Mario games on the Switch.
Super Mario movie number wan.Of course. The Mario and Luigi games were also great storywise (for those who say Mario can't have a good story). I would love a Mario movie along those lines. I've no idea why this mediocre "child" movie (that a lot of people here are excited to watch) gets so ardently defended here.
I legitimately don't get it. What do people want from this? It's mario. Sure, most of us are adults and grew up on mario, but its always been a franchise marketed to kids. And even STILL, I viewed this as a fully fleshed out story. We have a whole backstory for mario and luigi. We meet their family. We have a strained relationship with his father and the disrespect of his peers that provide motivation for him to develop as a character and earn their admiration. We learn about the mushroom kingdom, how to get there, and the surrounding lands and their relationships(or lack thereof) with one another. None of this stuff even had to be explained to the extent they did because it's fricking mario, a cartoon italian man who jumps on turtles....but they cared enough about this movie and the franchise to give it a shot. And we have arguably the best, most faithful version of Bowser that does justice to the development of the character as he was in Paper Mario. Sorry I seem to frustrated but I just don't know what some of you expected or wanted from this movie.Super Mario movie number wan.
I hope you're reading this in your basement and raging at this post.

What reviews are saying it’s bad because there’s no politics??Some of the criticism leveled at this movie is the lack of story and rapid pace, I get. But other critics and reviewers want the Mario movie to stand and represent something, they want this movie to send some message, either subtly or overtly. Take that for whatever you want.
I interpret that is that it wants the Mario movie to display some political or social issue message. Like that Baymax film that was a huge hit with critics because it shows support for the LGBT community, especially the Trans community, there's a scene in that movie where a Trans man is looking for tampons in a store for his menstruation. They say the Mario film plays it safe and doesn't support any type of message.

What does it mean if Bob Hoskins makes me moist?John leguizamo is the test for whether or not your penis is limp or hard.
Also, Seth Rogen as DK was just wrong.
5/10
On the other hand, someone on Twitter created these which swaps the 80s songs with their original scores:i think Twitter is trashy, boring, uncreative, doing anything else, like watching the Super Mario Bros movie with popcorn, is better
