West Long Branch, NJ In the first Monmouth University Poll of likely Iowa Democratic caucusgoers in the 2016 cycle, Hillary Clinton holds a commanding 41 point lead over Bernie Sanders. This is the first poll conducted after Clintons appearance before the Benghazi Committee and Joe Bidens announcement that he would not mount a presidential campaign.
Coming through a particularly busy week in Democratic presidential politics, Hillary Clinton has opened a sizeable advantage over her nearest rival in Iowa: Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. With less than 100 days before the 2016 Iowa Caucuses, Clinton appears to be gaining some momentum and is solidifying her position in the battle for the Democratic Partys nomination, according to a Loras College poll conducted October 19-22.

This is a huge shift. Most people would have called Iowa a tie or even a slight Sanders lead recently.
