Weidman had his number any position any round that fight simple as that. You could hear those shots on the ground they were brutal Silva wanted none of that. And even on the feet he couldn't touch him, everything missed including the front kick he got Vitor with. So many people called it too that this was the guy to beat him, its not some freak accident, dive, occurrence or whatever other stupid conspiracies people are buying into.

This is the same tactic Silva has used for YEARS. It's been his MO for quite some time, and it was no surprise that he did it again. He likes to put on a show and sport his clear and uncut dominance over opponents. It just didn't work this time.
A was about to quote your avatar, but that is as old as jokes about glasses lol. Don't be so serious. He knocked out a guy that has been pretty much uncontested while standing for years. That's impressive. Still, I don't find that instance more impressive that willingly taking a guys punch like it's nothing like he has done on occasion.

That's precisely why Silva was so emphatic about wanting to keep it on the feet. He didn't want a repeat of what he got on the ground in Rd. 1.
Coming out for the second round, Silva was imploring Weidman by pointing at the crowd and saying "Come on and stand up!!!" and shit like that. And it kinda worked, too. After he started clowning, Weidman seemed way less interested in taking Silva down.

I don't think many people at 185 are as good as Weidman. Roided Vitor maybe but he isn't getting a shot unless he wants to fight in Vegas. Which means he will have to come off the juice.

Not that KOing Silva didn't do that(I don't care how he did it, he did it.), but it would do him some good. Everytime I talk to someone about it, they always refer to him as "that guy who knocked out Silva", as if he has no name or any identity of his own lol

I don't know, his counter elbow looked pretty sick. I doubt he would ever be as impressive as Silva due to Silva being both a finishing artist AND making people look incompetent at the same time. Still, hardly anyone in the division is that good, and he's got a shot when you look at the comp he has currently.
To be fair, GSP DID go into a deep depression after losing and is still kind of in it. He's just super duper duper super motivated to never lose again. Mentally, that fear from losing to Sera is what makes him lay on dudes for 5 rounds.
But his day will come, too. Some day, he'll lose again. Just like everybody else. All the greats lose. I think Silva will probably take it better than GSP, though.

Agreed. Silva has an amazing "highlight reel" of defeating opponents. It's hard for another fighter to match that.
I'm torn between wanting an immediate rematch and wanting to see Weidman defend the title against someone else.
It's like, if he loses to Silva in a rematch we don't get to see him defend against another fighter. But, If he loses to someone else, we won't see the Silva rematch.

The bookmakers agree with you. Anderson is currently a -220 favorite over The Wildman in the rematch, and one well-known MMA bookmaker expects the line to move to -300 sooner than later. Shock value aside, I don't think the people who matter (ie, the people who bet on the sport) were overly impressed with The Wildman's performance.

He finished Munoz with a spectacular standing elbow and KO'd the division's best striker. How is that not impressive?
Also, his submission wins were pretty good too. Only two UFC fights he didn't finish were on very short notice.

Roy Jones always would have in a boxing match. Even old, shot Roy is way, way too much for Silva to hang with in boxing.
after re-watching the fight a few times I have to say I agree. He took him down convincingly in the 1st round and was landing blows. 2nd round he took the fight to Silva while Silva just danced around like a clown.
It's hard for me to admit it but damn. Silva got beaten. badly. Whether Silva was being cocky or not, I feel like I have to swallow my pride as a (gigantic) fan of his and admit that Weidman dominated the match.
Just makes me so sad. I had a pit in my stomach all day after seeing the fight.
My point was : Everyone receives punches on UFC, winners and losers, but it is easy to see an unicorn than see those 2 bleed.

I actually thought he was about to end the fight right there. I got really tense just because I didn't think he would get beat down if he were to lose. A knockout, sure. These guys are legit at that level and know where to hit you, so just about anyone outside of Roy Ironface Nelson will go down one way or another. But a 4 o'clock after school bully beatdown? Not like this Silva, please. Any way but this lol

Arlovski is talented and hits hard, he just has a real bad habit (even in this clip) of pausing with his hands down after throwing a combo or landing something hard. Combined that with his less than iron chin (more like aluminum) and it's led him to a less than great career trajectory.
