He's just being transparent.
You're not supposed to talk about your injuries.
If you lose, it makes you look like you are making excuses.
If you win, it makes it look like you are rubbing the victory into your opponents face by declaring you beat them when you weren't even at your potential.
It makes you look bad in either case.
That, and your opponent could easily have been injured as well. If they also start talking about their injuries, it becomes a stupid competition to see who had the most disadvantage going into the fight and how that made the result occur.
