I know a bit more about this than most. I personally am involved with alot of the MMA community and have a family member in the UFC. Cormier deserves the trolling. If you can dish. You better be able to take it.

well yeah that's the 'compete' part. it's pretty obv he's an insane competitor not JUST in it for the money. but i've seen him on fox or w/e years ago re bones just basically saying he'll do whatever talking or whatever is needed to help sell fights b/c it means more money for his family. cormier's background and what he's overcome is really amazing and even though i was a bones stan from way back when (first UFC i attended live was to watch him win the title over shogun -- still have my signed form athletics shirt somewhere) i really have grown to like dc. beyond the family stuff and being one of the very rare good guys in the sport (/waits for dui) how can you not like that level of commitment to winning and caring about outcomes WAY beyond the payday
 
Hedged my bets on this, some money on DC, some on Jones, including a successful pick for Jones in the third.

Just waiting for my bookie to pay up, then I will zombie mode it through the rest of the day. Great fun being a UK MMA/wrestling fan(!)

It's a money maker for Jones and doesn't really impact his legacy so I'm not surprised he wants it but he'd get mauled if Brock is healthy.

Jones does not sell the same amount of tickets as Conor, but yes the UFC needs a big star around right now.

I hope Lesnar does not fight Jones, mostly because Brock does not deserve it. Also we need to keep LHW moving, not put the divsion on hold again.

Brocks standup is terrible though while DC has good boxing. Lesnar Jones would look like Overeem Lesnar. Brock goes for the takedown, JJ stuffs it and follows up with a few knees and Brock crumbles.

DC has way faster hands than Brock. Brock has garbage striking technique. Bones will see those punches coming from miles away. Brock is also smaller, in terms of height, reach and frame, than Bones. Only thing he has on Jon is weight.

Brock has no striking game as we've seen time and time again. Cain and Overeem washed him on his feet.
 
I don't really think it's the hatred that caused Cormier to break down. I think he believed with every fibre in his body that he was going to win that fight and what he got was 100% proof that he will always be 2nd place at best at 205.

Brock's not landing those shots though. He really has no chance in the standup and can be finished very quickly.

His only chance is to press Jones against the cage and hopefully be too strong for him.

Yeah he is very competitive and it has to eat him up knowing that he could not beat Jones.

Forget Lesnar, next for Jones should be Gustafsson, nuts to this freak show fights, I want legit title fights.

Jones is an inch taller, has 3.5" of reach and weighs 40 lbs. less. You're exaggerating the size difference to make a point. Weight classes exist for a reason.

I didn't say Brock would win from striking, but if Jones is getting hit like he was against DC, it'd be way different. Same when people talk about a hypothetical Stipe fight.

People are going crazy because they love KOs (and finishing DC is a big accomplishment) but Jones looked much worse than he did to me when he was on his run. I don't know if it's ring rust or no PEDs but that was not an unstoppable guy like he was 3-4 years ago.

Would rather see the freakshow fight tbh. I like Gus, but he's destined to be edged out at best.

Gus caught Jones slippin (Jones admitted to overlooking Gus and half assing during camp) and still lost. I believe him, dude was unstoppable at the time and blowing through his competiton. It's reasonable to believe he was starting to get bored.

Now that he knows Gus is a game opponent, he'll adapt accordingly.

Jones by murder.
 
Lesnar won't be able to get close to Jones. He won't be able to bull rush Jones who has superior technique and who is probably also nearly as strong (have you seen those lift videos).

So the result is Jones teeing off on Lesnar with punches, elbows kicks and that stupid oblique kick for the whole fight.

Agree. I feel like Jones has some unfinished business with Gus after their first fight.

How am I exaggerating? I said Bones is bigger in terms of frame, height and reach, which is all true. The point being that Jones isn't really smaller than Brock, and likely won't have much of a size advantage outside of weight, which won't mean much if he can't muscle Jones around or lay on top of him. Again, Cain is smaller and handled Brock. It's not all about brute size. I wouldnt' be surprised if Jones is as strong in the octagon as Brock. It's one of the things DC (who has fought HWs before) commented on after their first fight. That Jones was way stronger than he ever imagined.

Saying "if Brock is the one hitting those shots" is pretty meaningless. The reason those shots were landing were not because of raw power. They were because of DC's hand speed and technique. things Brock has zero of.

Bones looked plenty sharp in there against a world class fighter like DC after such a long layoff. If you want to talk about recency, Brock, meanwhile, is 40 and looked mediocre in his only fight in years against Mark Hunt, a fight where he was juiced to the gills to boot.

Hunt's chin is nothing like what it used to be, especially these days. Also that fight was won purely by wrestling and steroid abuse.

The only advantage Lesnar has on Jones is size, in every skill Jobes has the advantage, I still maintain this fight should not happen.
 
Brock panics the moment anyone lands a clean shot on him. He's been broken as a fighter since Cain exposed it. A 230 lb. Jon Jones would absolutely embarrass him.

Jon needs to just move up to HW and fight Stipe. Now, there's a fucking fight.

It's technique but Jones was still taking shots from a guy who had to punch up to him and didn't have the reach. His defense was not outstanding to me and wasn't what he used to be. I don't know if it's rust or PEDs but that wasn't the same guy.

Jones was much better when he fought his toughest challenge from Gus and one of the biggest reasons was Gus closed the reach advantage.

Weight is one of the most important things in MMA. I don't know what Jones cuts from, but Brock being at minimum 40-50 lbs. bigger is a huge deal. If Jones bulks up to something that he isn't used to it could also change him. Brock knows how to fight at that weight.

Brock had a huge layoff as well and if he was fighting damn near anyone on the planet than Mark Hunt he would have finished him.

Jones could finish Brock for sure, and quickly, but I don't think it's some farce matchup and I absolutely could see Brock winning if he completely dedicated himself to training again.

Yeah, I understand you, and the business too of selling a fight. Thing is, Jones seems to get the best of him every single time and makes him break character, even getting DC to call him a "bitch ass nigga" during press conference despite DC being regarded as one of the more professional guys in the sport. It seems to really affect DC too, that it doesn't matter what criminal shit Jones does, Jones is still the one that gets the most crowd support and gains popularity from every little thing he says and does, always.

DC was ready for this fight for a long time, Jones kept getting arrested and other stupid shit, but DC is the one that got boo'd repeatedly. At this point, I don't think it's a secret that he's a sensitive guy, and I don't think he ever really embraced the negativity haters in crowds threw at him since it really did make no sense to boo him for every single thing he says.

I think it's one of the more legit rivalries in the UFC. There's competing, but then there's all that other stuff that's happened between them. They do have a history.
