They wont be happy until the only fucking going on in theis Country is the Government fucking the average person.
Puberty is often estimated to begin between 10~14 for girls and 12~16 for boys. When any sort of education starts coupled with puberty, even at the younger ages, it may lead to individuals seeking out content. Just pointing that out to express reasoning behind why the stats may be, not making a moral judgement.
The issue with the technicals around this move is will it be some half-assed attempt at censoring where a few major sites get blocked, and random content will inevitably be viewable? Or will the Tories genuinely try and shut down every single depiction of a naked body online until some arbitrary switch at the ISP level is unlocked? Which essentially means every parent paying for the internet is probably going to have to unblock it by default (if the Tories start going after social media/websites because those to can have adult/porn content).
I mean, there's porn all over twitter! You can follow pornstars if you want. How are the Tories going to attempt to deal with that? Even when the UK government tries to shut down torrent/media streaming sites proxies or new URLs pop up. It's such an arbitrary way to try and deal with the internet. Unless May is literally going to try and "install a nanny PC application" on the macro level? If it's just court ordered URL blocking again it will fail stupendously thanks to proxies and URL changes.
Porn and terror will be two reasons given for VPNs being outlawed within 10 years.

Is this the Tories way of pandering to their conservative constituents? Because its stupid and unenforceable.
What is the actual reason for pushing so much for these kinds of things? The conservative politicans watch porn themselves, so it's not because of a personal belief. The conservative people they want to vote for them also watch porn. Everyone watches porn so what's the deal here?
Although this appears to be just about protecting children from porn, it isnt. It will block any site that doesnt comply with strict UK content rules. Any nude image at all risks being categorised as porn, and the entire site being blocked. Current filtering systems class up to 4m websites as sexual. Its likely this regime will block the vast majority of these. And doubtless, the censorship regime will then be extended to other crimes against decency.
Although much attention has been paid to the very dangerous snoopers charter, this law is at least as dangerous, and has had far less attention.
Privacy campaigners criticise UK plan for age checks on porn websites
Oh FFS.
I'd use a VPN, but apparently the Tories want anyone found with those tracked and investigated. They'll send around the police to drag you out for a beating for circumventing their mass censorship, no doubt.
”Age verification risks failure as it attempts to fix a social problem with technology. In their recent manifestos, all three main political parties called for compulsory sex and relationship education in schools. Sex education would genuinely protect young people, as it would give them information and context."
Jerry Barnett, author of the book Porn Panic! and a free speech campaigner, said: ”This law is the culmination of years of lobbying by a wide variety of state and private interests, and will fundamentally change the internet in the UK and possibly globally. For the first time, the government has the power to block websites, en masse, without court orders. This is a first in a democracy.

Who are they polling? Overly keen conservative nut jobs? I see this carted out as an excuse all the time, but I've never once been asked for my opinion.Public polling says the public is in favour of this. Its populist bullshit that they can say keeps people safe

Very few people will say no because they don't want to be seen as a pervert.
Porn still has that image problem. It's also why noone will vote against this when it's in the commons.
I wonder what their plan is on the prevelance and increase of explicit sex scenes on TV shows.
16: Old enough to have sex and join the army but not old enough to watch porn and vote.Considering we're already in a country where inherent prudishness to sex means a shit education on it - this move is just bizarre. As already pointed out you can have sex at 16, although many start earlier, but can't watch sex until you're 18? You can also join the army and get married at 16 but can't vote. Idiocy.

UK is getting super puritanical these days. Maybe next they'll bring Jesus back into the classrooms
I wonder what their plan is on the prevelance and increase of explicit sex scenes on TV shows.
So how is this going to work with foreign sites like Reddit, Pornhub and Tumblr? This is badly thought out and a really stupid idea.
Possibly, but people voted for the party pushing it.
Just about.
God. All the misery of Brexit without the option to have a quick wank.Does mean UK people get more miserable and angry. That's a good mix with Brexit.
You genuinely can't imagine a situation in which a list like this is abused? If it stops their minds from being warped by all this race shaming bullshit, boy and girl alike, I couldn't give a fuck.
Let's not pretend all pornography is worthwhile.
You genuinely can't imagine a situation in which a list like this is abused?
I satirised that above, but I expect by 2030 to have a UK outside of the EU forcing manufacturers to install Kinect cameras into TVs which are 24/7 scanning a room to check who is in it. This will be hooked up to a database built by the Tories that knows everything about you. At least Microsoft would be delighted for finding a use for warehouses of unused Kinect cameras lol...
Sorry Dave, I can't let you watch this movie, I detect a 15 year old in the room and this is an 18.
But the adults voted to BrexitAn NSPCC report in 2016 said online pornography could damage a child's development and decision-making and had been seen by 65% of 15-16 year olds and 48% of 11-16 year olds.
The Netherlands will have Mass Surveillance next year..we are the next inline with a western democracy being destroyed in front of our eyes.

Arguably, western democracy never really existed. A large portion of the achievements of liberals in the 18th century were rolled back and the majority of power remained with powerful interests after that. It wasn't until technological developments started eroding government power in the last century that the public begun having power again and there is of course efforts to reverse that. The Netherlands will have Mass Surveillance next year..we are the next inline with a western democracy being destroyed in front of our eyes.
You decided to go with a 2001 reference and not a 1984 reference?
It is pathetic how a government tries to mandate on how puberty and even adults try to ban stuff that doesn't work. Government don't control your lives, you control them.
Porn is bad and terrorism is bad that's there view...and off course ' think of the children'. The UK is a Nanny State deciding on what you can and cannot watch even as adult since porn is watched by everyone even at a young age i discovered playboy.
Seeing how mass surveillance was passed and now this..Orwellian state..fucking 1984..that fucking book was not to be an instruction manual.
