My fav: Mother 2 (US known as Earthbound)
Dev: Nintendo (Ape)

Why? For me, the game has quadruple-0wned me so many times every time I've played it and beaten it. Theres just something about it that is unique, engrossing and artsy about it. The music, storyline, themes, etc. all pwnedd my face off. So, you add those qualities along with nostalgia and it becomes my top candidate for fav videogame of all time. For whatever reason, Miyazake movies (Spirited Away, etc) remind me of the world of Mother 2.

Didn't we have a thread like this a couple of weeks ago? Oh well...

Xenogears. Square. Awesome experience.

You give me quite the hard choice, and considering nostalgia will probably be a big factor, I shall go with Street Fighter 2010 for NES.

The game is just FLUID with the attacking and the acrobatics and the flipping out. It got my blood pumping constantly. There were no cheap deaths either; the control is TIGHT and perfect. Hard as balls though, as the enemies don't let up, even when they're going at a sluggish pace. If the game could be part of Capcom's Compilation, I'd shit myself shitless with happiness.

Yeah I'll go with Street Fighter 2010.

Landstalker developed by Climax on the Mega Drive/Genesis. It's my favorite game because I love adventure/action rpgs and Landstalker is still up till today the most appealing one. From an awesome cast of characters, great storytelling, to a colorful world, multiple towns and dungeons with unique designs and cultures/races, to awesome puzzles, sidequests, opinional stuff, to the great soundtrack. All of it makes for an excellent gaming experience that I find hard to replicate even today.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Incredible design, engrossing gameplay, a beautiful gothic artstyle & arguably the best score ever composed for a videogame.

Animal Crossing.

Developer: Nintendo EAD
Why: Charming, relaxing, new, brilliant. Just the right time for just the right game.

Phantasy Star.

Where can I start? The scope of the game is so big... 3 worlds, vehicles, tons of monster varierty and animations, great story and characters, 3D dungeons, superb soundtrack. A truly magical game.

Pirates! on Commodore 64.

Takes several different game mechanics/genres (action swordfights, strategy land battles, sim/action ship battles, stat management, open-ended storyline) and sews it all together as one complete product that I've enjoyed for nearly 20 years. If that kind of playlife doesn't count for something, I don't know what does.

Tied between Super Metroid and Ocarina of Time.

No ties, pick one chickenshit.

Mine is easy:

The most amazing RPG ever created, it allowed you to do anything, be anything, while still providing an excellent plot and plently of interested and well developed content. I doubt any game will ever dethrone this.

It USED to be Fallout. Although Fallout 2 is great, I found that the more concise narrative and the ever-present time limit in Fallout 1 provided a more compelling experience.

As of now, my BESTEST GAME EVAH is Resident Evil 4. The game is a pure masterpiece in action gaming, and easily the most entertaining game I've played in years.

My current top three:

1. Resident Evil 4
2. Fallout
3. Starsiege: Tribes

Chrono Trigger, Squaresoft, happiness, joy, beauty, perfection, sweetness, loving, warm, erotic, sexual, big boobs, ugnngngngnggngngghhh....

Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon

It's a game that fits my personality. The humour is great, I love the weird characters but I enjoy even more the locations. It's just like OOT just that it's fun :)

WASTELND.BMP

Interplay's finest hour and the most engrossing RPG I've ever played...even now, nothing has topped my experience with this title when it released...not even the greats, like PSI, II, IV, FFIV, CT, PDS, or the Wasteland-inspired Fallout series.

David Braben and Ian Bell's Elite. The BBC Micro disc version, as published by Acornsoft.

Way ahead of its time, vast immersive universe.
