Uncharted 4 delayed to Spring 2016

As if any of those games on that list that everyone keeps quoting are as important as Uncharted is

Ps4 does not have a heavy hitter for the rest of the year, that blows

It's a Remedy game, people are more surprised that they actually finish a game than whether it's delayed or not because the latter is almost always assumed with them.

Haha, sad but true.

I want to see more of the game, see if it's still the same game that was announced/presented, not an Alan Wake situation again (that's not a knock against the final AW product, just that I still yearn for the initial open world, day/night cycle small town type thing they initially announced).

We don't know that yet. Even before this delay I was expecting another major exclusive to be announced for Fall at E3.

Heavy hitter =/= good game, so I don't really care. Plenty of good games on that list to keep anyone busy.

If it means less day 1 patches, mosre concrete games, and less glitches and issues I'm fine with every game getting delayed

You will probably still get a day 1 patch as ND will continue working/polishing and what not until release. (I don't know why day 1 has a negative connotation)

If you are Sony do you open your E3 conference with Uncharted or close with it again?

Start. End with a bigger surprise?

Would rather they take time to get things right anyway. Last thing we need is another round of broken games for the holidays to satisfy impatient gamers and you know that if it did come out broken the backlash would be much worse than a simple delay.

Already reached 'acceptance' I see? I'm still hovering around 'bargaining'. Need something to fill this void.... :(

Bummed I won't get to play it this year, but there are a ton of games coming down the pike in 2015 that I'll be occupied with.

Seems kind of crazy they would know this far out to make a decision. Really surprised by this.

Just throwing out some ideas here, but if they knew that it would be a stretch to get UC4 where it needed to be by October (when it'd need to go gold for a possible November release, correct?), then I could definitely see them just moving the release date a few months down the road; possibly into the slot we now see Bloodborne occupying because that'd put a nice bow on FY2015 for Sony. Also, calling it this early means you can still afford to be away from the studio to hype up things at E3, Gamescom, and TGS without necessarily impacting that final crunch time/push to finish development. Additionally, a playable UC4 will most likely be a key draw at Sony's Playstation Experience event this year as well, etc...

Thank you, Phil Spencer, for letting Guerilla Games have the extra time they need to get Tom Braider 4 up to scratch.

This delay only seems bad if your subscribe to a 'videogames are for Christmas' view, I rather like that big games are coming out in January/February/March though.

Y know the only thing I'm worried about is the order and Driveclub but we're delayed to make the games better and neither of them turned out very well... Driveclub clearly needed a few more months in the oven and the order needed even more than that.

Given NDs great past it's hard to doubt them though.

I can understand that people are upset about Uncharted delay but Sony still have a lot of exclusive this year :

Exclusive to the platform : 24 vs 7

So 90 PS4 "exclusive" games against 29 for the Xbox One, just saying.

We said this about 2015...

but I wish this list was true :(

And evidently its still true. 2015-2016 are probably going amazing gaming years.

I do wonder what Sony will have in the holidays.

Then why are you worried? What?

WTF are Sonys studios freaking doing? So they're basically ceding another holiday season completely to Microsoft. This makes the MS/SE deal for Tomb Raider a genius move.

And it's not even a real "exclusive", and not from their own studios. Most of those Microsoft exclusive games are not even first party.

There is more than only Uncharted to buy this year and not online first party, but also second and third, f2p and indies!

I'm not even mad. The PS4 will still sell at record levels this year, and we get the best Uncharted possible. What's wrong with that?

I've waited years for a new UC, a few extra months won't kill me

GAF yearly AAA hype cycle.

1. __________ is going to be the most amazing year in gaming. Just look at the list of big budget games coming out this year (insert list of AAA games yet to be released + The Last Guardian).
2. Devs and publishers start announcing delays left and right. AAA hotness title X has been moved to (current year +1)
3. E3 will save us...it does not..more delays announced. Nothing said about Last Guardian
4. Madden, COD and Ass Creed release on time. Last Guardian delay announcement right on schedule - remaining hyped games don't live up to hype.
5. __________ was a slow year in gaming. But just look at the games coming out next year. Repeat...

It's a regular ass uncharted with an extra rope. Nothing ambitious about it.

Also your brother is evil. Can see that from a mile away.

So the area being way more open, the ennemies being able to jump and move across said area and the verticality of the level shown are not meaningful changes?

It is unfortunate that PS4 will not have the "heavy hitter" exclusive in this holiday season, but the rest of exclusive catalogue is very strong, much stronger than Xbone's offering.

PS4 will continue to sell well all year, and hopefully in early Spring 2016 we will get awesome Uncharted game.

Really? What game is bigger than Halo 5? Just curious.

How in the world are they ceding the holiday season to MS? The PS4 will still likely sell 3 times as much.

Guess that means no PS4 for me this year, after all. Depending on the exact release date, I might have to wait until after my finals (which are in May).

Edit: I'm starting to hope we might see the first revision before then.

I'm assuming he is referring to the U.S. in which case, I'd agree. Uncharted is a hell of a haeavy hitter. Nothing else they have will sell as well or move as many consoles on its own imo.

To me, The Order looks way better (but even then, that's an example of how visuals mean jack shit if the gameplay isn't up to scratch).

I trust ND though. They have such an amazingly consistent track record that I would feel silly to doubt them.

I'm not gonna jump on the doom and gloom bandwagon here. If anyone deserves the benefit of the doubt, its ND.

Speaking of The Order, it seems a good part of GAF has forgotten what it looked like one year before release.

Man, they didn't even attempt to soften the blow. Usually they wait till E3 or something to sweeten the deal by at least showing some amazing new trailer along with the bad news.

Instead we got a very clinical press release on a random Wednesday morning.

I guess tomorrow's Bloodborne review is supposed to sweeten the deal.

Mad respect for Sony after this decision, though. I can't imagine what a difficult choice it must have been to delay a game like this, even if by only a few months. To not rush it out for the holiday shows the faith they have in ND and the respect for the quality of the Uncharted brand.

There's several games that hit holiday 2014 that should have been pushed back to this spring.

I would say make Tearaway the Winter game at this point, then again I want Tearaway in the summer. I just want Tearaway! Love that game.

I'm hoping they have an E3 surprise coming up or something
