Uncharted 4 delayed to Spring 2016

on one side I'm happy with them delaying it, because it's better that they care abuot quality over rushing, on the other hand I think that their PS4 success is somehow pushing them in sllowing down their first party output. considering how I look to a console mostly for its exclusive, I'm not happy.
But I was planning to postpone my PS4 purchase to Christmas 16, so they are helping me...!

The delay is fair enough but this has made me angry about the Tomb Raider/Microsoft deal all over again, it really sucks that I won't be playing either game this year.

Continued to be unimpressed with Sony WWS management.

They've already ceded 2015 holiday season to MS.

No way can they compete with TR, F6 and H5.

Persona 5 is coming in 2015. The Last Guardian still has a shot to come out this year. Disgaea 5 will probably be out by then.

Honestly, I don't think they have to worry considering there are going to be a ton of good releases this year for the PS4, and this is throughout the year, not in just very specific times.

Everyone knows about third-party. Just wondering what Sony has planned for this holiday now that its heavy-hitter is 2016. And I don't have numbers for which console sells the most copies of current gen games world wide. I only know XB1 version usually outsells PS4 version in NA because it's shown every month in NPD.

That only happened the last 3 months and PS4 version sold the most copies of the only major multiplat release so far this year in Dying Light.

The Last of Us was delayed six months as well. Relax, dude.

Oh I'm sure the game itself will be fine of course, but as nice a guy as Shu is, this entire generation has been one fuckup to the next on his watch. They're incredibly lucky they still have the momentum they do in the market, because its been like watching a beached whale spasm incoherently release schedule wise for the past two or three years.

We won't know until we get the game in our hands. Microsoft won't delay it even if they should.

It has been in the oven for awhile, so I am willing to bet it will be fine. The MCC was a massive package and an entirely different scenario. Microsoft will not ship a broken Halo 5 after that mess.

and how did you get to that conclusion?

Because that's how it has always, always been.

People ignore the chaff in favour of that big title.

Ask anyone if they're prefer to have 20 subpar games or that one really great one they've been looking forward to a long time and the answer will always be the same.

I'm assuming he is referring to the U.S. in which case, I'd agree. Uncharted is a hell of a haeavy hitter. Nothing else they have will sell as well or move as many consoles on its own imo.

In the US, no matter what Sony does, MS is going to go insane on the firesales. Even then, the PS4 will still sell extremely well here in NA so it's not like the X1 selling a huge amounts means the PS4 won't. And as we've seen, NA is a smaller part of Sony's overall sales, so again, I don't see how this is ceding the season to MS

No, every single damn game I ever wanted got pushed back:

Watch Dogs? Pushed back.

Batman Arkham Knight? Pushed back.

Witcher 3? Pushed back.

GTA V on PC? Pushed back after a year delay.

Dying Light? Pushed back.

And now Uncharted 4.

Think of it this way: would you rather want an unplayable mess than wait a while and recive a good game instead. Sure not every game delayed have been flawless (far from it) but imagine if they would not have been delayed at all.

Got to keep it positive even when bad news strike :)

Yup. Crystal Dynamics are fools unless somehow find a loophole and release the PS4 alongside the Xbox versions.

MS probably threw so much money at them that they really couldn't turn it down.

I think you are underestimating the power of the Persona series.

That game is going to be big. Not Uncharted or Halo big, but it will sell millions.

Pretty much this. Persona is loved by basically ever region.

I hope that they don't close their E3 show with anything Uncharted related. I think it would be best to close with a 2016 game that they're ready to tease, but not give a lot of info about other than a title and a developer...

Like a :30 teaser trailer of Guerilla's new game, or any of the other studios making larger budget games, with a title card & developer at the end... then just end the show after that, no explanations until later than night or the next day.

It is always funny to read peopls saying that delays are good, just for convenience.

Dont get me wrong, I agree that developers should take their time as needed. But a DELAY is never good news, and neither means a necessarily good game.

If more time is needed for development then a delay is good news. You are right that it won't mean that the game will be good just because it got delayed but the same goes for without a delay.

I wish more devs got as much time as they needed to fully work on their vision for the game and make it in their eyes the best product as possible without being forced to release it since a date that was set in the past says so.

In West? Good luck with that.

Why do you say that? Persona and SMT series has sold very well in the West. Especially with the exposure of Persona 4 and all the spin offs, what makes you say it won't be a very good seller? It may not sell as much as Tomb Raider or Halo, but it'll still do damn well on its own.

in other related news, microsoft exceeds expectations and sells in over 5 million xbos for holidays 2015.

That's never going to happen, they won't get close to 5 million for the holidays. Even if the PS4 didn't have a single exclusive. Let's be realistic

That's a bold statement.

The reaction to the latest video was insane. It was the #1 trending topic worldwide on Twitter for nearly an hour, not something that happens very often for a video game announcement, let alone just a new trailer.

It is indeed a bold statement but it's one I believe.

Now more than ever.

For people who say you can just patch games, don't underestimate the importance of getting it right the first time.

Destiny was delayed and bad. Delay doesn't make the game guaranteed good.

I don't get it, is everyone who predicts release dates mentally handicapped or some thing? Every single damn time, the release date gets pushed back. Getting tired of this shit. Oh well, it's going to be at 30 fps anyway, don't want to play a lagfest anyway.

First you are kinda mad, then not going to play the game anyway? Ps. 30 fps is not the same as lag. 30 fps equals 30 fps.

They should always have at least 2 big games set to release in the end of the year so as if one needs to be delayed a couple of months they don't show up empty handed.

Hmm...

On one hand, I'm glad that Naughty Dog isn't going to join the "rush our game for the holiday season and release in a totally unacceptable state" club!

On the other hand, this does make the PS4 line up look more anemic in my eyes. At least it isn't like last year though. Metal Gear Solid 5, Bloodborne, and Persona 5 (hopefully this year!), and Batman make this year look a lot better than 2014 at least.

Really hope Sony's 1st party gets it together though. I feel like there has been a quality drop off from them this gen so far. I hope this delay means that Uncharted 4 will buck the trend!

Enjoy buying a bunch of Halo: Master Chief Collections. Takes 100+ days and handfuls of patches to get the experience you'll get with a delayed Uncharted game, that will probably be delayed for the same amount of time you're frustratingly attempting to play your broken game before it finally gets fixed.
