Why did I make myself sit through that? What a w terrible movie. Slow story, no memorable characters, terrible action and ugly to look at. The worst part is that some of it's ideas could've been extremely cool in a better movie. I hated the standard moldy royal vampires and the lychens looked like shit.

There's poorly made movies that are really enjoyable(Resident Evil for ex), but this was a fucken chore to watch.

They're going to start shooting Underworld 2 here in Vancouver in a few weeks, which should give me at least a few days work.

If Kate Beckensale is on set though, I figure it'd be worth losing the money and possibly getting sued in turn for doing something her husband may not appreciate.

Na, it's a piece of shit. I'm not one to watch a shitty film just for a hot chick, but this one was my sole exception. Beckinsale in a tight black leather outfit is fucking insane hotness.

All I can remember was the main characters going to and leaving that vampire mansion about 10 times. Each time they left and returned a tiny step of the plot was moved forward.

Reminds me of Hellboy and how those squid creatures were forgotten about by the story for about 40 minutes.

I sorta liked Hellboy though. It was original, plus it was fun unlike Underworld. To make an action movie about supernatural forces and just have it be BORING is unforgivable.

Hellboy almost went in the opposite direction even if you ignore that ONE single enemy became a problem only when it was convenient. I was buying the story and the way the universe operated.

But when he started having a conversation with that corpse I just had a WTF is this moment and had to be talked out of walking out. It just came out of nowhere

Not only were the action scenes underwhelming PG-13 material, all of them were shown in the preview trailers. What a ripoff.

Everything else (acting set design costumes plot etc etc) all sucked and sucked badly. The blue-tinted camera was the most entertaining thing in the whole movie.

A vampire movie for those who LOVED Fast and Furious, xXx and Torque.

What... the Ogdru-Jahad or Sammael? Well the Ogdru are sealed within a gaint cyrstal prison in outer space, so... they're not going anywhere, so that's why they're absent for the majority of the film.

As for Sammael/s, they weren't forgotten at all, actually most fans were upset that they featured far too heavily in film, taking screen time off Kroenen, Rasputin & Abe scenes all of whom had scenes cut from the final theatrical release.

Oh c'mon seriously? you could accept a half-dead nazi ninja, but not a talking corpse.

It really was terrible.....and this is coming from someone who saw the trailers and was really excited by them.

Underworld is just a mess. Not enough action, and the plot doesn't get adequately explained until the last 15 or 20 minutes....at which point I was so bored I didn't give a fuck anymore.

It really is one of those movies where everything great about it is in the trailer -- no need to actually watch it. I still love that sequence with Beckinsdale jumping off the building, then landing and going straight into a badass walking strut. Too bad the rest of the movie hasn't got anything near as interesting.

Kind of like Avalon from the GITS director, everything i wanted to see about this movie was in the 2 minutes trailer.

I thought the werewolves looked pretty radical, and Kate looked spectacular in that black get-up. I also liked how they digitally edited her eyes super-blue. Hot. Other than that, yeah, it was a pretty poor movie.
