Unidentified plane crashes in China

J-20 is a good guess... I would also say a helicopter copy of the one that crashed getting Osama, China was allowed to send people to see the crashed helicopter

Yeah, I probably passed by that guy a thousand times on campus and never imagined the great heights (of hair) he would eventually rise to.

That's right, folks. I went to college with Ancient Aliens guy.

Are you out of your mind? Just because, they got to see 1/8th of crashed helicopter does not mean they can reproduce and build it from scratch within half a year...

First of all, to even reverse engineer a helicopter would need like 2-4 years plus the whole damn helicopter to start with.

Second. Even if its a crappy J-7 or whatnot the military would probably not spoil the beans to the public until they investigated everything.

It might be a J-20 but its probably not a J-20.

I would say this:

40 % Normal Chinese Air force airplane
20 % Prototype airplane (such as J20)
30 % Civilian airplane
10 % Foreign military airplane (This is what i hope for, would be exciting)

Unless its a normal mil. or a civilian airplane, there is a extremely small chance the chinese gov. would ever tell us anything more than cover ups.

Is such a thing even possible?

He's a Kazon
Damn, case closed.

LoL

Clearly the Kazon found the Caretaker's array, and slingshot themselves across the quadrant and is trying to warn us about the Ocampan threat

Nobody knows.

I have a feeling that the Air Superiority / SEAD craft will continue to be manned (with the option of remote piloting maybe?), and everything else will switch to fully unmanned. The logic is that if you're expecting to be in contested airspace, you're far more likely to be exposed to electronic warfare stuff which could cut you off from the place you're receiving piloting instructions.

Any ideas on what is finally going to replace the BUFF? I'm still amazed we use the thing at times.

And that's in 1962 when our military was dirty poor. Of course your spy planes have been improved over these 50 years. So have our missiles.
Xenon do you post from China?

Your explanation for anything slightly peculiar is aliens, isn't it?
You lose your keys, it's aliens.
A picture falls off the wall, it's aliens.
That time we used up a whole bog roll in a day, you thought that was aliens, as well.

What's do the Chinese think about the fact that those pilots were Chinese American?

Traitors? American spies? Stupid asses who underestimated our missiles?
Why do you think they used Chinese Americans to pilot these planes? Also, I noticed you say "our missiles"... Are you Russian?

Its been quite a while since China shot anything down, do you think this is a spy plane they downed?

First it's not some Chinese American, it's ROC soldiers. During the civil war tons of soldiers were killed so a couple of more killed in 1960 didn't mean anything (in fact, only 3 pilots were killed). And technically speaking we (PRC and ROC) are still in a civil war.

Second, in 1960 those Russians have already pulled out. You think what, they helped us all the way until 1972 when Nixon visited us? No, they have ditched us in 1959 and during 60-70 they almost decided to invade us (we stopped it by doing unclear tests around the border). So yes, those missiles were designed and manufactured in China.

Back on topic. It's most likely some rich dude's private plane, but I'd say I won't be surprised if it turns out to be a global hawk. If this plane is really some of ours then you wouldn't even know there's a crash, let alone let the state run media to publish it.

You guys probably don't know how many U-2s have been shot down in China all these years.

About a handful, which is pretty good considering the flight path they were taking.
