Of all the movies you could save money on casting, this one's it.
Think they want Depps "voice acting" chops. Or perhaps they will doca unique route. He is invisible only to the people on the movie, but to us he isn't. Then you will see his performance.

I'm not hyped, I feel like this is going to be miserable big budget and poorly mishandled cinematic universe. Universal should just release cool stand alone that are straight to home release. Saves money and they can turn a profit maybe if they catered to the niche audience that loves those old monster movies.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Black Lagoon remake, but I couldn't care less about the rest of the universe being proposed. Why don't they just do a big screen adaptation of Penny Dreadful?

I wouldn't be averse to a Bride of Frankenstein movie, but sadly that whole slate is going to go sideways, and with BoF fourth in line, it's either going to be the studio-meddled last shot, or cancelled along with the rest. I'd honestly prefer the latter, as the former will probably be used as "another reason" why female-fronted stuff "doesn't work". Bah.

All I really want is a new Creature from the Black Lagoon made with modern 3D filming techniques. Couldn't care less about a shared universe; The Monster Squad is already the Avengers of the Universal Monsters franchise.

I've never seen it :(
I need to fix this asap.

Moviepilot? I hate to sound like Bobby railing on ComicBook.com, but Moviepilot is a shit tier site, at absolute best. Most of that shit is just rumors and baseless speculation.

What I find funny is how Universal was hyping Dracula Untold as the beginning of its monster universe two years ago. When it underperformed, it was quietly ignored and now next year's Mummy is going to be the start of the universe. Whatever. I like the idea, but I still hate the idea of making all these movies modern. I think there's much more appeal if this was a 19th century cinematic universe.

Calling it, The mummy basically will be a serious take on the same story archetype as the brendan fraiser movies, setting up the mummy to be a god like evil entity.

Wolfman is about a good guy who gets turned into a werewolf, fights other werewolves and gets recruited by van helsing in the after credits scene.

Van helsing takes cues from the hugh jackman one but in modern times, pretty much uses frankenstein['s monster] in the same way, wolfman co stars, ends with a stinger showing the bride being created, waking up or otherwise revealing that she exists.

Creature of the black lagoon gets reworked into some sort of mash up of man thing and swamp thing, monstrous champion of nature.

The team up movie revolves around the mummy threatening the whole world so Van helsing recruits both frankenstein monsters, the wolf man and the creature of the black lagoon to stop him. Invisible man joins up in the 2nd or 3rd act as a back door tie in to his solo movie.

Invisible man movie is a monster themed spy movie, after credits stinger is revealing that Dracula is out there plotting something to be the next big bad for the second team up movie.

This literally sounds like the Halloween special of ultimate spider man. Dracula appeared, almost took over all of New York, so Nick Fury called in the howling commandos to stop him. Then Drac gets beat, Mummy finds the item Drac used to become powerful and then becomes evil. The mummy is defeated by the marvel equivalent of Swamp Thing (Man Thing I think?) and everyone lives happily ever after.

I love the idea of reviving all of this but setting it in present day AND having Orci be the mastermind behind it all just instantly cuts the legs off of this for me. Fuck it

Hahahahaha, im not surprised, since i just strung together typical hollywood movie plots that have been beaten to the ground.

Van Helsing is going to kill them all and fuck the Bride of Frankenstein.

Or fuck them all and kill the Bride of Frankenstein.

Somebody's getting fucked by Van Helsing, that's all I know.

This sounds freaking unbearably bad. Why would they think this is a good idea? Not the universe idea, as it would just end in the Munsters, but the actual shitty casting/director suggestions. Might as well just have M. Night direct it all at this point.

So they're just skipping Frankenstein's movie and are going straight to FB? Some weird choices for this MCU.

Oh yeah, I forgot that stupid Tom Cruise Mummy movie is still happening.
