Until Dawn Movie- Official Trailer

1. What's the point of adapting a story/choice game and then throwing out the entire story/all the characters?

2. This looks ass

3. The story in the original was ass too, so IDK how this caught anyone's eye in the first place. How does this even exist?

At least they put a wendigo

Not gonna lie, it looks like it could be fun. I'm getting Cabin in the Woods vibes with all the non-Wendigo weird shit going on.

Honestly it's probably smarter to do it this way instead of a 1:1 copy of the game's story, as it allows them to turn Until Dawn into an anthology series with the focus being the 'until dawn' aspect, rather than just a one-off story about wendigos.

Love to see even Sony succumb to the power of useless side-quests instead of continuing their main story and releasing great video games consistently

I just wanna know, what the fascination is killing teenagers from a psychopath wearing masked maniac? Are Americans just wanting serial killers like these for fun with gore?

Honestly, this looks way better than I anticipated.

It looks borderline hilarious and the premise has way more franchise appeal than just a carbon copy of the game's original story as a movie.

For those saying, "Why even bother" Why bother doing anything? It's such a silly premise of an argument.

Well at least I don't have to watch it now, all that was missing from the trailer was who makes it till dawn.

It's as if - and bear with me, this may be hard to comprehend - Sony is a huge corporation, and it includes more than the gaming division! Who knew.
What?! You mean their insurance division shouldn't be making games too?

It's funny, since 2000, people have been asking why they aren't working together as a company to promote their games. People asked why weren't they making movies and shows for their games?

Now that they are wisely working together to promote different divisions, we have people complaining.

Ultimately, it's good for gamers. If these endeavors are successful it means more games in the franchises we enjoy.

I would love if we still had games like Arc The Lad, Legend of Dragoon, Killzone, Alundra, Dark Cloud, but the games weren't successful enough on their own. Ironically Arc The Lad did have an anime adaptation. It wasn't very big budget and was kind of lost in the sauce. It doesn't help that it didn't get a big push in the West. Transmedia means we get a better chance of keeping the franchises we like and getting new and interesting IP.

You'll never make everybody happy though.

You could have done a 1:1 movie with the original actors who are now in their late 30s and early 40s. You could have done a 1:1 movie with new actors, or you could have done a new plot with new actors. If they had done any of these, you'd have people complaining. Ultimately, they picked the one that has most long term potential for more games and more movies.

This is like a whiskey company creating a liquor, and then asking the Always and Sunny in Philly guys or Connor McGregor to pretend like they sat in a garage and created it...

Since they made up a totally different setting and scenario, I would be more confident if it was written by the Happy Deathday writers since that was just silly fun.
I think the draw of Until Dawn, if its your type of game is controlling which characters die. And add to that, the game characters look way better than the actors, so rather look at the game characters.

You guys are too jaded and cynical. This looks like a fun slasher flick. The time loop conceit is a great way to cram a bunch of creative kills into the same movie. Worked great in Edge of Tomorrow.
