yeah, I gotta go see if I could get some tickets for a football game on Sat., I'll be back later, hopefully there's something, but I'm getting the feeling it won't be till tomorrow...

btw, this guy sounds legit with those numbers, I used to visit the ATV boards in the past and that screenname sounds familiar...

ok, if they came from the ATV boards I'd be inclined to believe, if not, well I won't...

either way, hopefully there'll be something real later...

I'll buy the Burnout numbers, but why are the sales on Xmen:Legends so close between PS2/Xb. It didn't think it had any kind of special features for the xbox. None of the numbers seem that far off though.

It does have 720P Hi-def support.

Hmm I think I remember calling that BO3 had a good chance of selling better on the Xbox than the PS2... Get started on DJV3 EA!

If you mean "September 2004 NPD video game sales preview by Wedbush Morgan", then:

"We estimate that EA generated $130 million in sales for the month (compared with $141 million last month and $80 million last September). We expect sales to be led by Madden NFL 2005, which we estimate sold 650,000 units combined in its second month of release (on top of the 2.1 million sold last month and flat with last year’s level). We expect Burnout 3 Takedown to be the company’s top release for the month selling 400,000 units combined, while we believe that both NBA Live 2005 and Def Jam Fight for NY sold 250,000 units apiece in their first month. We also think that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 sold well, with approximately 200,000 units sold through at retail. We expect to see continued strong sales of James Bond, Harry Potter, Need For Speed Underground, Lord of the Rings and Medal of Honor as well as from its catalog of sports games. "

Quite a big difference between 400k and 225k if the numbers are correct.

The numbers all sound reasonable... BurnOut 3 seems a bit lower than ebveryone expected but to be honest, it's not exactly a top market franchise.

Even forgiving the PS mistake (I'll assume it was a typo), I'm having a hard time trusting any of these numbers now. These were last year's Madden numbers:

PS2 MADDEN NFL 2004 469,977
XBX MADDEN NFL 2004 105,499

Its the beginning of the end for EA.

Looks like the 20 dollar price tag really helped.

ESPN Football is on pace to outsell Madden on Xbox.

I can already see the ESPN Football 2K6 Boxart now:

"The number one selling Xbox football game!"

bukhead is a reliable poster but those numbers are troubling me. Burnout 3 on PS2 sold more in the UK in September than USA just don't sound right!!!! Madden also looks very light unless overall sales have fallen off a cliff in September.

I agree. All the numbers seem decent except those, but...we've known bukhead for years. Maybe he got bamboozled.

uh, I've been calling out the importance of September numbers for the 2k5 vs. Madden football sales battle, saying it would be the first time both are available and word-of-mouth about them has settled...

Looks like people are realizing how great of a product Sega has this time around...

Burnout is kinda weird I agree on that, but at the same time, there was competition from Fable and the GBA pricecut.

maybe consumers thought that the game would haved to be played online or that online was the main focus of the game...
