as Bill Burr said, just ignore these people on twitter or social media who get offended. idk why people pay attention to these idiots.

What is the historical significance of that term?

Very simply, when you wear armor and it gets a lot of sword strikes they are referred to as "chinks" enough of them in the same are will make the armor weak at that spot. Not at all racist or even confusing. People are just stupid.

Between this and the Colbert thing, I'm starting to think that my people have no idea what racism is.

People like to get offended about everything. Obviously there is no Asian connection here, so I really don't see how you could connect the two.

"Chink" being an Asian slur.

Chink in Ones Armor is WAYYYY before the racial slur came "in-vogue." The tweet isn't racist. It's that stupid "PC PR Police" thing that another thread/article is talking about.

People are getting wayyyyy too sensitive about the use of certain words in certain situations and it's starting to piss me the fuck off.

If you use "chink" as a racial slur then you can expect that people will be upset. The use of the word as demonstrated in the OP is not an example of this.

Many people have don't know alot about what Racism actually means is a disturbing fact I discovered. Truly sad times (which is what a would say if there was a comparative golden age on these issues which there clearly isn't).

Oh fuck off!

Pretty much. People lack critical thinking skills and are unable to recognize context. Thus a word must be banned in all uses becuase someone somewhere used it in a racist\sexist\etc(ist?) tone somewhere.

I can see the sentence being slightly confusing at first glance, as they don't actually say the exact phrase "chink in the armor". Padding out the sentence makes it a lot easier to misinterpret. Still not racist, but this isn't as bad as people freaking out over the exact phrasing the title suggests.

Hypersensitivity strikes again. We're going to limit harmless figures of speech that are unrelated to racial slurs now?

Wow, we can't even use idioms anymore without someone out there getting offended. There's too many wannabe social warriors on Twitter that are ruining everything for us.

Wording could be better, but the intent wasn't racist. And yes, "chink(s)" is also (rarely now) used as a derogatory term to those of Chinese descent.

twitter is quickly becoming my most hated thing, giving so many dumbasses a platform to be loud is just making me more and more apathetic.

Another example of the professionally offended brigade?

Seems to be the fashionable thing on social media currently. Problem is it spreads so fast that a bit of thought or common sense can't catch these errors quick enough and before you know it is headline news.

People getting bent out of shape over nothing, as per fucking usual. Is there any words we are allowed to use without being branded racist?

both sides are right and wrong.

USArmy dun fuct up by stretching out the phrase (Chink 'yada yada yada' in the Armor). If they left the phrase intact then no problemo but chopping it up the way they did makes it awkward and seemingly offensive to those too lazy to read the sentence in it's entirety.

USArmy should've known better

I've rarely heard the term used outside of being related to armor, plans, etc. "Gook" and "slant" were more likely to be thrown at us growing up.

God damn some people are just so fucking stupid it blows me away. Chink in the armor is in no way racist. Reminds me of dummies who go nuts over the usage of the word "niggardly".

This generation of wet blanket millenials with their trigger warnings and going out of the way to be offended by ANYTHING will be the death of us all I reckon one day.

Yeah, I could see a LOT of people getting unjustly fired from their jobs from these types of people.
