"Value" shampoos vs. the expensive ones

My friend's sister came home yesterday with over $100 worth of hair and beauty products, including a tin of gel which was $40.

... I of course, found this insane, and then she started talking about how the regular shampoos damage your hair in the long run.

While I'm sure the value shampoos aren't as good, do they actually damage your hair?

Is there anything wrong with the 22.5 oz. Suave shampoos that cost $1.39 at Amazon?

It's all made out of animal fat and random chemicals. Tell homegirl to stop being a consumer whore and save some pennies

I used to use alot of expensive salon shampoos (System Biolage, Redken), but now use only Pantene, and I can't tell any difference.

Tell her hair is already dead and no product will make it better. My friend got a crateful of free products from Pantene because she managed to get a confession out of them that the only difference between their stuff and the cheaper brands is the smell and texture.

The only requirement I have about shampoos is that it has to contain Selenium Sulphide, which means either medicated Heads and Shoulders or maximum strength Selsun Blue. This is because I flake like a mofo if I don't use a shampoo with the Selenium in it. I prefer Selsun Blue, but I alternate between the two because it's good to do that.

Booya! Durning times where the weather is particullarly dry, I get the uber strength version that comes in the dark blue container. It's cheap, work wonders, and prevents me from raining snow on all those behind me.

I used to spend a ton of money on expensive stuff, but the corner 99 cent store sells VO5 and it works like a charm. It also helps that I don't put any "product" into my hair; that will fuck you up more than anything else.

If you call the goop you put in your hair a 'product', chances are you're paying too much for it.

I dunno, I'v always used the Suaves and V05s from the 99 cent store and I don't have any problems with it. You get for what you pay for, though. I definitely notice a difference in my hair when I steal some of my brother's Pantene Pro-V, but using the cheapy ones is by no means damaging, as far as I can tell. It just doesn't make your hair as shiny -- or as silky smooth =P~

I know one well known brand, it comes in a green bottle, is discouraged by Dermotologist because is clogs pores and causes pimples on the scalp.

Dude, is there anything you don't order from Amazon?

Free shipping, no tax, no hassle going to the store and waiting in line, 3% off with my Amazon VISA... why wouldn't I order the majority of my stuff from Amazon?

Uh, maybe because they're run by the Freemasons and every dollar you spend goes toward the destruction of society.

No depending on the post office, at least that'd be my approach to it.
