Paradox Interactive seems ready to be done with Vampire: The Masquerade — and with RPGs in general — with deputy CEO Mattias Lilja telling PC Gamer that any potential Bloodlines 3 will be "done by someone else."

Lilja opened up about Bloodlines 2's development in the course of an unusually frank interview, itself part of a media tour seemingly designed to show how Paradox was being reset after a string of problematic releases and reports of a toxic work culture. Paradox's overarching message? It's sticking to what it's good at, and what it's good at is strategy games...

Bloodlines is super rough around the edges and it still ended up as legitimately one of the best games of all time. I'm prepared to give this a wide margin, but I don't know, not feeling it so far. Gonna need some player reviews before jumping in for this.

You play as one character who has fixed name and design but you can change their gender, apparently modify some of their look and pick a clan (4 on base game, they also are going to do paid day 1 dlc bullshit with 2 more clans). That second playable character is more of a Johnny Silverhand type of thing

If you guys want to have a good laugh, it looks like the "Santa Monica Memories" paid dlc has some items they straight up ripped from one of the editions of cancelled Hardsuit Labs version they had listed back in 2019 / 2020

Yup, and to make it even more bizarre the original version of Bloodlines 2 had 5 clans and when Chinese Room took over they reduced it to 4 clans. That axed clan (Toreador) is now locked behind that 20+ dollars day one dlc lmao

You're probably right. I mean, one of the Paradox's execs did an interview last year where he candidly said they consider Bloodlines 2 as a dead end regardless of its performance and if the hypothetical third would happen they wouldn't bankroll it themselves. So they most likely don't give a fuck and will try to squeeze out of it as much as they can regardless of the optics

So to get the full game at launch, they want you to fork over $90. Damn. I guess I will wait for a sale then. It is a shit move to lock 2 of the 6 clans behind DLC. It is like they want it to fail. There is not enough hype behind this game.

Watched a bit of gameplay on twitch. Honestly the game looks surprisingly good, but lol at that 90 euro edition with 2 locked clans behind it. Fuck off corpo scums. If it stays like that, it will damage the games reputation and sales and looks like it doesnt deserve it.
