First Two Hours Of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2

Also, no pickpocketing, no lockpicking, no hacking... the formal excuse seems to be that "it doesn't fit the power fantasy the studio envisioned for this specific main character", but I think it's just the cover excuse for "We didn't have either the talent or the budget to implement more complex subsystems and mechanics".
The Chinese Room make minimalist games, so they probably do feel it didn't fit. They are fine cutting out things they don't think add to the experience.

Hopefully they make the right decision:

If they remove the clan gatekeeping I'll immediately preorder.

I still feel baffled that someone seriously thought about giving the lead character a "Phyre the vampire" moniker and felt that cringe name was fine to go with
Someone claimed that the name is supposed to be a nod at the 90's edgy vampires, which VTM draws a lot of inspiration from.
Regardless, it's a pretty cringe name.

I've watched and read an unhealthy amount of stuff about the development of the first Bloodlines game.
A lot of the Troika devs were scattered around. There were even few that went to work at Blizzard. Some of them founded Obsidian, but from the original more better known founding devs, some have also left Obsidian.
I think Avellone for example is working on Ken Levine's Judas.
Tim Cain is still there though, and he's mainly working on The Outer Worlds games...

you are correct. I knew some of them personally from my early software development days. I was not part of Troika, but I knew a lot of people there as we were friends. The industry network was a lot smaller back then. I don't know where half of them are now to be honest. Things got really fragmanted and I lost touch with a lot of folks.

Based on what I've read the true moniker of this character is apparently "The Nomad" which does sound a bit better. What they came up with is that some time after waking up in modern times they see the name "Phyre" on the poster or something and from that moment for some dumbass reason main character keep insisting about being called "Phyre" to everyone they met

it's mental gymnastics how anyone thought this was a good idea in the first place, especially in the current winding down of woke garbage and micro transaction nonsense era we are currently in... and you fucking love to see it
