I love the summer popcorn movies... I enjoy shit blowing up, I like good computer graphics and bad... I can handle weak storylines...

Van Helsing is not bad, I could actually watch it again...

The only problem I have with the movie is the technology seemed too advanced.

I don't mind the Dracula babies... I don't mind that Frankenstein was needed for the main story...

The CGI is not bad, the Jekyll/Hyde character at the beginning was funny... I actually wished they kept the whole movie in black/white... that would have been cool...

I also watched Dennis Quaid in The Day After Tomorrow... that was decent too...

eh.. Van Helsing to me was fine... I didn't get all the hatred.. Mind you I also like stuff like Son of Dracula, Dracula's Daughter, and any number of Hammer remakes without the benefit of Lee/Cushing.

It was a mildly entertaining monster flick.

My only disappointment was that like many others, I was hoping he would swing back to Mummy/Deep Rising and not further along the path started with Mummy Returns. Sommers is at his best when he is doing cheese and campy with an R rating. I am glad for his commercial success with the Mummy movies, but then take that clout to get edgier projects through.. don't exploit it until the fans stop supporting you.

now he pretty much has to start over again at square one.. maybe at least this way we will get some more quirky projects again.

I liked the score moreso than the movie, but the movie wasn't bad either.

The movie had Faramir people.. Faramir.

Wow, unbelievably different role for this guy coming off of the Lord of the Rings. Even though his character.. along with all the others... was so painfully two dimensional, Faramir and the werewolves sold the movie for me. Not as entertaining as LXG but a decent popcorn movie nonetheless.

Dracula fucking sucked (he looked and acted like he came out of a director's cut of Zoolander, for chrissakes,) but everything else is awesome. Loved the "oh fuck my skin is molting" werewolf transformation sequences and how they made Frankenstein's Monster intelligent and repentant (like the book) instead of the usual giant angry zombie

Oh my god this movie is bad. Dracula was terrible, was he left over from some lost Hercules episode? Beyond horrible.

Starts off with how important Frankenstein's Monster is, and then he just disappears for 3/4ths of the film.

Full moons arrive every other day, that's pretty impressive.

Van Helsing takes out Hyde in 5 minutes, but takes 20 minutes for a meaningless vampire fight. Please, enough with the spinning camera, we get it, the bitches are flying.

Why oh why, does Van Helsing have a Spiderman complex? Swing in on this rope, swing in on that rope. Christ, even Frankenstein is swinging on ropes where he helps solve problems like Jake Lloyd bumbling into victory in a hotwired starfighter. Flying horses, werewolves turning into fire, only Dracula can die from a werewolve bite? I've seen soap opera's that made more sense.

It looks good visually, but the movie blows.
