Vanillaware Games and the incredible work of the modding community.

I love Vanillaware games, which is especially hard when they do not set foot on the PC ecosystem.

Hardly a problem when there is emulation, of course.

However, the modding community takes it a step further! For example, did you know that modders have made 4K texture mods for Muramasa (both the Wii and Vita versions) and Grandknights History? The results are incredible, and they work flawlessly, delivering 60 fps at native 4K visuals.

Grandknights History is especially amazing with the modding community having added FULL English language support - GKH was never released in Europe or the US so it only had Japanese as a language - and the results are incredible.

Oh man, love both of these games. I am going to have to dig for the textures.

Actually have Murimasa physical for both Vita and Wii.

The fact both these games are published by Marvelous makes frustrating because chance of getting re-release on modern systems low.

If it was published by Atlus we would have seen on PS5 and Switch by now…….FUCK!

Grandknights History has a lot of potential, but has a massive problem with enemy scaling, which makes leveling mostly pointless.
If they could re-release this game with balancing and tunes, would do great.

Every re-release they made, they improved the game significantly, it was same with Odin Sphere Leifthrasir, Muramasa Rebirth, Dragon’s Crown Pro and recent one GrimGrimoire OnceMore.

Yeah. But I think this game needs desperadly one. It's an incredibly well made and charming game, but it's balancing it's utterly terrible and would impede anyone to ever have fun and progress in the game.

Vanillaware hates PC they actively told sega not to make a PC version of unicorn overlord even when Sega said they'd handle it themselves. Fuck em, I love their games but they ain't getting my money till they stop living in 1992.
