So, EVERYTHING IS SHIT® - that's your reply.

And then you people wonder why people.consider this hobby of ours miserable - the constant whining and negativity is truly a sight to behold.

Pretty funny though, out of your shit list®, there's 5 games that I'll buy, that means that either A) I like shit or B) not everyone has to share the same opinion as you.

That's the problem, some of you think that your subjective opinion is an objective reality , now, if you can't see what's wrong with that, well...
Some of us here knew, including myself, that when the pendulum would start to swing back to more and more good games and good release years, that there would be a crash collision between two types of people on GAF.

And I don't mean the positive posters, I mean the jaded-in-moment-only guys versus the jaded-all-the-time guys.

I'm noticing that spark of excitement coming back to some of you after this SoP, even if it was from just one ot two announcements, which is a good thing. Others here are way too knee deep in nostalgia or whatever other term you want to use, to ever return. I don't know what would actually bring them that spark aside from a magic genie lamp returning their childhood to them all over again.

On reflection, it's great from a 3rd party point of view. I'd just love to know what PS Studios that didn't have GAAS full on rectal penetrated on them have been up to.

Thanks to yesterday SoP I am so hyped for Silent Hill f. I love horror and Japan so I'm completely sold on it

Am I not allowed to explain why one might not be impressed by anything they saw today without getting called a Warzone drone?

This medium is cooked. Have fun with your low ass standards.
Yes you are but there is no logic in what you say. You act like everything they showed was bad

I loved many of the games(that pooping sim was terrible tho), but have to give that even an E.
Would be an F so lowest of the lows, but sony did present bit of exclusive content- more astrobot lvls, so gotta bump it up to E.
Besides that 0 exclusives so nothing to lure me into playstation ecosystem, hence the full fat E.
I judge it in oldschool ways, same way we judged press conferences back in the day- the more high quality exclusives company showed the better the show was and the higher the temptation became to buy their console.

Give it B+ as FFT and nioh 3 give me excited, but VR section was a let down, they should remove VR out of SoP, it's dead already, and i want more of tide of annihilation gameplay

Marchy, that's the thing brother, EVERYONE is entitled to their opinion, heck, even i expressed my dissatisfaction with the 007 game saying that IO interactive doesn't have the pedigree to produce something as cinematic® like the 007 game is trying to be, thing is, there's a difference in not liking something and finding everything to be shit®, there comes a certain point where you can't help but wonder whether these constantly negative people are either A) jaded to the point of not liking anything just for the sake of it, B) obvious fanboys of the opposite "camp" (even though most of them were 3rd party titles) and C) a combination of both A and B.

It's literally impossible to find common ground with specific types in here since being snarky and negative is their sole reason of their online existence, it's literally impossible to please these people 'cause...they don't want to be pleased, it's like they get their fix/kicks from said constant negativity.

The majority of SOPs have been bad yes, but last night's one ? Shit man, you have to be completely out of touch with this hobby of ours as to not have - at the very least - smiled/giggled with titles like Romeo is a dead man (that Suda51 fuckery man), Nioh 3, MGS Delta, the fact that Pragmata looks better than ever and is indeed coming out (thank the muhfuggin' heavens), the fact that Silent hill f isn't vaporware/shit (on the contrary) and so on so forth - heck, I loathe anything Mahvel related but that fighting game looked brilliant even though i won't be buying it due to me being an old fart, I was able to find some "joy"in it though.

Besides, no shitty Calladooty PR presentation, no soulless GAAS (Concord/Marathon etc) presentation and no yearly bullshit sport games PR is always a plus in my book, but nope, everything was apparently shit®.

Again, there's just no pleasing some people and the meme "I spend more time talking about games online than actually playing them" of yore has never been more true lately.

An alright show but I expected more 1st Party stuff. Also, not a single word regarding Marathon or that Jade Raymond game is kind of odd.

Better scores than i thought reading the live thread. It seems the most frequent posters are the most negative about everything. Lately it has seemed like everyone hates everything. Everyone just posting as fast as possible something negative about a game. I think some of you need to re-evaluate if you actually like gaming anymore. Most scores seem normal as i said though so it seems the majority of gaf is still sane.

The funny thing is that even me and you have had disagreements and arguments here before, but the difference here is that you simply had a preference of what you wanted in modern day.

However, with some posters I'm not seeing any modern day preference. I'm not seeing any alternate suggestions of what they liked seeing so far this year, or what they're looking forward to next year. Hell, I don't even know if they can provide a top 10 list of their favorite games from past 4 years or if they even have one.

All I'm seeing is some of them playing an intense game of whack-a-mole against all of the positive reception with post after post to remind everyone that they found it bad, and I find myself wondering…

In a previous post, you complain about people who consider their subjective opinion to be the objective reality and now you claim people who didn't like anything on the SoP are out of touch? Okay.

I think there were worse State of Play shows than this one, but I still don't get what was so great about it. Actually, there was a bunch of games I'm interested in, but what was shown made me less excited for those games than before.

Context man, context...

I'm gonna say it again : having a personal opinion (a negative one at that) is OK, not everyone can like the same things, being constantly negative 24/7 is a whole different thing though.

What context? You were contradicting yourself.

I mean, on one hand, I agree there's just no pleasing some people, but on the other hand, why shouldn't people be negative all the time when they feel like all they're getting is shit?

As for myself, I have given Sony benefit of the doubt multiple times this gen, but honestly after 5 years it's getting kind of tiring. The only reason I bought the PS5 Pro is GTA VI. Right now, I'm not even sure if I'm interested in the next PS console. And judging by the reactions on this forum and elsewhere, I don't think it's just a problem of me being constantly negative.

this one of the rare SOP that i will rate as A as there is lots of games from eastern developers but i am still glad i did not wake at 5am due to RE9 rumour

A for me personally. Just the Digimon release date alone got me excited, and I'm also very hyped for Nioh 3! Lots of great interesting games were shown.

Now, let me be clear for the 11th time:
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. People are free to dislike things. That's not the issue. The problem is when someone is constantly negative throwing out drive-by comments, slamming entire genres until that genre shows up on their platform of choice (and suddenly it's "actually pretty good"), or openly saying they've enjoyed critically panned games like Hellblade II or Starfield only to turn around and claim everything shown the other night looked "shit" or "mid." Or, what about the now true and tested "lol Sony haz no games" from the usual "I switched to PC" crowd (wink*), that kind of behavior isn't just negative, it's performative.

Maybe you haven't been around here enough lately to see the patterns I'm talking about but don't ask me to explain it again since you're missing the bigger picture.

Still very pleased with The Showcase, thinking about it. It's great to see how healthy the Japan side has become with all these coming bangers. Pragmata, Silent Hill F, Tactics, all of this was damn good!

This is the kind of stuff that makes me glad I get to share this with that special person than before. Gaming is heading to fantastic and beautiful times :)

I love Lumines more then just about anybody I know, and teaming with the Rez creator for a Tetris Effect version is just so amazing, off to a good start.
Pragmata looks great, like a Space Age Resident evil with scary robots instead of zombies, feels like it is from the Resident Evil remake teams. Amazing.
Dead Man looked awesome, that tease at the end flashing all these mini-games or whatever the hell is happening in there looks great!
BloodStained 2 Holy Shit! Curse of the Moon was my favorite game of 2018, more Bloodstained the better. Iga is maybe my favorite Dev.
FFT remaster, one of my favorite games of all time, only sad thing is it wasn't a shadow drop.
Best look we have gotten of Metal Gear Delta.
Sword of the Sea looks gorgeous, I love Journey and Abzu (and SSX!) so it looks perfect.
Ends with james Bond which I think looks amazing. Hitman trilogy is one of the best games this last decade, now they get to make an Uncharted game basically? Sign me the fuck up.
And then my jaw was completely slack for the entire Arc System Works Marvel Fighter. MVC2 is my favorite fighting game of all time, and I think Arc's work on the last 2 guilty gears and DBZ Fighters is the absolute pinnacle of game art design.

How is this not a 10/10? I guess they could have had Silksong in there or announced a new Sony 1st party game, but no 1 presser can be all things to all people. For how excited I am for the games shown, an easy A for me. The only games shown I have zero interest in were the climbing game and the Digimon game (and even I will admit for Pokemon ripoff crap it looked like the best game ever in that genre)

most of gafs gaming cards should be revoked this was 9/10 jp drevs are cooking.
ps does Geoff Keighley have any thing left for sgf after that loaded sop.

I'm the only person in the thread who mentioned those 2 games after someone brought it up to troll me. I gave the SoP a C-. I didnt say everything was shit or mid. I went game by game. My harshest comments are for the Sony presenters who inserted themselves and were extremely cringe and a charisma black hole.

I think you have it backwards. I think people on PS will end up realizing those are both great games after they get ported.

My opinion isn't based on any Sony bias (Sony didn't even show any of their games). I've been trashing Capcom for about a year at least and skipped DD2 and MH Wilds on launch while everyone was calling them Capgod. Pragmata was dark for years and reemerged with a weak trailer. I dont like 2D fighters and I think ending the show on that was also rough. FFT showing was a giant let down compared to the years of overhype. Silent Hill f looks like something I will pick up on sale, which is what I said. Metal Gear looks really overpriced at $70. These are all multiplat games, most of which we've seen before or even played before.

I talked about multiple games I intend to play. You're massively misrepresenting what I said.

Seems like Indiana Jones x Splinter Cell Conviction. Will definitely play at some point. Optimistic. I trust IO to have deep stealth gameplay.
It'll be good. Was just a rough trailer.
Dramatic increase in production values from Road 96. I like the bright colors. Cant say I'm sure what this is yet.
Looks like Bloodstained but moving even closer to Castlevania. Will definitely get it. Art style is not aging well at all though. Oof.
Game of the show for me. Seems fun.
Nioh 3 looks pretty safe. But it'll be good. I am literally a giant Nioh 1 and 2 fan and I felt the trailer was boring. Just going on trust it'll deliver. Demo is great.

It's kind of sad I literally have to do damage control for Sony after their shows just to prove I don't hate everything to their rabid fans. Maybe they can just have an exciting show for once. Instead of trash talking Aaron Greenberg, you guys might learn the names of those 3 people in the State of Play this time and start complaining about them, because every indication is that they're absolutely terrible at their jobs and have no idea how to market anything.

C+ or B- for me. Nothing spectacular or surprising shown.

I wouldn't be surprised if the XBOX showcase turns out to be a better PS5 showcase than this State of Play.

For years people mentioned how Sony was leaving Japan behind.
This SOP just showed that not only lots of great stuff from there it's coming soon, you add to that Death Stranding 2 and it couldn't be further from the truth.

I mean you got Pragmata, Nioh 3 announced as console exclusive with a demo being shadow dropped, a new Ghost of Yotei video, Final Fantasy Tactics announced, a new Silent Hill f trailer, a new MGS Delta trailer, a new game announced with Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls (console exclusive) which is a partnership between Playstation and Arc System Works, more Astrobot levels (one of PS Japanese studios), a new Lumines, etc...

I don't know what more people want. Any old school Playstation fan that always loved japanese games should be over the moon with this. If anything this is the most old school "playstation" show we got in years.

i know right its like they want the moon every time

Is it worth me watching it. I missed it last night. Kinda gutted I missed it.

Silent hill sounds like it looks awesome so ill check that out.

Its amazing how people easily forget what this shows were always about ... I rated a B- just because we got lots of gameplay, no woke bullshit and zero gaas .. so I know Iam already functioning at a lower standard... Sony fans are becoming microsoft fans, pretty soon hellblade 2 is game of the year.

Bro, sony has such a bad showing this gen i didnt even need to buy ps5, hell i wanted to buy pr0 instead coz thought by middle of the gen lifespan they will have plenty exclusives, and guess what, demons souls, astro and gt7(which is fricken crossgen) are only thing i wanna play, rest is either utter shit or on pc already...
I should be target audience sony wanna convince to buy ps5 since i loved playstation consoles from back in mid 90s, now in 2025 they got such a subpar offering i already made peace with very likely not owning ps5/pr0 and going straight for ps6 instead(if its backwards compatible).

Best money you ever saved... I had to buy the Pro because I promised my son .. so I did... but its not worth it at all.

For sure the ps6 will be the first console Ill not buy at launch... if at all because moving to PC seems like the smart choice.

Only one thing can change this...bloodborne ps6 exclusive. I cant resist this...

Different taste

Pragmata, Final Fantasy, Nioh 3, Marvel, Astro Bot, Lumines, etc. I'll never play. I'm not interested. Tactics and Nioh I tried and got bored on prior releases.

Ghost of Yotei is a maybe, but likely won't play it. Silent Hill I'll likely play. 007 I might play if it comes to GamePass, steep discount or someone gifts me. I won't pay full price for it. Probably won't even pay $30 for it.

I like Thief, but I don't care about VR.

So that leaves me feeling incredibly bored with this SoP. For those into indie games and Japanese games, it was better. I like some indie games and some Japanese games. I've played all Metal Gear mainline games, but I'm not interested in the remake.
What are you interested ? Just curiosity

Maybe just maybe Sony will slowly return to the gaming company I used to love but then again maybe I am just a dinosaur

I laid out my expectations/wants fairly well prior to the show. I was right not to expect it, but that doesn't make me feel any better.

I miss E3s

You have us all nerds there for your summer type of show so remove some of the 3rd party stuff and let Summer Games Fest have it and give us some details on your big 1st party games

I know some here label me as an Xbox fanboy but I just miss the old Sony and playing these massive single player adventures on the big TV and getting lost in those games
