He seems to be waging a war against almost everyone at this point, including his audience. I understand he's bored by clickbait, copyright claims and such, but trying to be controversial for the sake of controversy is not helping him here.

Hasn't he always had adult content for a while? Is it not up to a child's parents to take the time and be aware of what they are consuming?

( ignoring the anti semetic stuff.)

why oh why did he upload a video like that if it was just a dumb joke to test if they would write that sign? He could've just said that he write some stupid things and they actually wrote the sign anyway. He must've known what would happen, otherwise he wouldn't have said he was sorry and that he wasn't anti-semitic etc afterwards. Was it a test to see what he could get away with?

I really don't know why he went through with uploading it, he shot the video over the course of 2 days, 1 day where he sent the requests, and then the day he got the replies. Maybe he didn't want to throw away a gag that cost him 2 days? Not even remotely a good enough reason but if he's at the don't give a fuck stage which judging by his latest stuff he really is (very ranty pieces, stopped uploading on Mondays due to stress of overworking, always jokes about running out of ideas)

He even has a video on how the whole pewdiepie persona has changed in the past few years, why he plays less games and why his humour is much darker/more mature now, maybe this video was a test to see how far he could get. He has beef with Youtube in general, along with many other channels, with regards to their algorithm changing for the worse, and last week there was that 'bug' in their system that tanked loads of big channels subscribers by millions in a few hours, so maybe it's a combination of being an idiot and going too far to spite Youtube for recent events?

Felix is a good dude who doesn't deserve the avalanche of vitriol he's receiving over this. Obviously Disney would cut ties and he should have known better. But youtube is over-reacting like most of these threads, pc culture gone way too far. Liberals turning into some fringe hard line group attacking anyone and anything seen as offensive. Even things done in jest, comedy when needed most right now is getting attacked by this hyper-sensitive fringe. It's sad. Not the way to get either a conversation going or point across. There absolutely are people trying to normalize nazi-ism and racism, but Felix certainly is not.

So much for the "tolerant" left! PC culture ruining comedy! SAD!

I feel like this post filled out a conservative talking point bingo card.

Wow, pewds :(

Considering the majority of his followers are kids who are by definition easily influenced, I'm personally perfectly fine with a guy facing consequences when he teaches these kids that jokes like that are fine/funny.

Considering the strong rise of xenophobia in both the US and Europe right now (where most of his fans are based), I don't think it's a bad thing to act out against this sort of thing.

I do think you need to be able to joke about any subject, but there should be some responsibility taken with that. There's no point at all to the joke he made, apart from going for the shock. That's not a joke, that's using antisemitism for clicks. I personally don't care whether he's a good guy at heart or not, I care about the kids watching that stuff. When you're making children's entertainment, maybe stay away from 'death to jews' jokes. Or is that hyper-sensitive of me?

People defending what he did is hilarious. It's like me calling someone the N word and then saying, nah it's cool, I wasn't trying to be racist.

Never understood the appeal of this drama queen

I mean, wasn't he begging to reach 50 million subscribers to delete the channel a while ago ?

What's the over/under on the number of days before he says "fuck pretending to be sorry" and comes out as a full-blown racist?

Does he have a dog? He should get a dog. Take that step first before completely giving up on the sorry act.

I'm not sure what the "joke" was to everybody defending this as "satire" or "comedy". The punchline was "death to all the Jews". What is funny about that? Like, if there was a show where one of the characters was an idiot YouTube personality, and in service of trying to "push the envelope" he proclaimed "death to all the Jews" and in turn lost a bunch of money and endorsements and we could all laugh at how stupid he was, now that would be satire.

Hey look, this guy gets it. There is nothing fucking satire about what he did.

Modern "comedy" doesn't follow the "setup-punchline" method of jokes.

It's just "LOOK HOW OUTRAGEOUS I AM! MILLIONS OF JEWS DIED KEK!!!"

I'm not enjoying this because I think he'll run out of money, I'm enjoying this because I'm sick of seeing the double standard where celebrities think they can say what they want and get away with it. Madonna got away with her White House comments, this idiot did not. And to the people defending him - stop kidding yourselves, he's not going to read your post and mail you a check for $100,000.

I might get slack for this, but it warrants saying. I feel bad for the guy and it seems like the House of Mouse is throwing their weight around.

This.

And people make mistakes, so once or even twice could be considered bad taste, making that mistake 9 times though... There really isn't any defending that shit.

This x 10000000000000. I feel like there's so many avenues for people to garner a young audience and try to pass off random, shitty things as humor.

This is certainly the case with lazy YouTube prank humor. "Hey I stepped on your foot just kidding it's a prank bro!". People kept mentioning stuff like Always Sunny or South Park in that other thread completely missing the point of how shows like that handle these kinds of issues. To PewDePie simply seeing the words "death to all the Jews" was somehow funny to him. This was his thinking behind that "joke". Certainly makes me question his mindset. Like, why would you find that funny?

Yeah, I feel bad for him too. He only repeatedly made fun of the slaughter of millions of innocent men, women, and children in order to score cheap laughs and make money.

I mean, yeah, a shitload of people died for no other reason than because they were born Jewish. But who's the real victim here?

Hint: It's PewDiePie

It's a bunch of people who grew up watching South Park and completely misunderstanding what makes that show comedy.

He's a grown ass man still doing Nazi jokes, which isn't the type of comedy people wanna hear right now.

I can see Disney dumping him since they want no controversy whatsover (I'm not sure why they sponsored him in the first place, didn't they do any research at all?). But Google doing it seems like revenge for him talking shit about Youtube all the time.

Hope he invested well. Career is probably finished.

Not necessarily. It should be the wakeup call he needs though that not everything he does for shock value has merit, even when the intentions aren't meant to be offensive. Cheap laughs don't give a free pass to ignore common sense and decency.

good.

no. He made the kind of joke you just don't do.

Or, you know, not wanting one of the faces of their subscription services make antisemitic jokes.

His thing has always just been saying shocking stuff for a laugh. There's no real joke here. You see it in his defense of his style of humour. He falls back on saying "it's just jokes" because there is no satire to explain. He used to shout rape a bunch but that got backlash so he stopped. He used to use gay as a pejorative a lot but he got backlash and stopped. This isn't a new thing, this is just the first time his edgy, offensive jokes have actually caused him to lose business.

I don't think he's an awful person, and some of the responses here saying he's a nazi and stuff aren't quite right, but I don't think you can defend the shitty things he's saying as any sort of subversive or clever comedy. It's tasteless shock humour that young teens probably think is hilarious.

He missed out on a lot of money. Sad thing is his viewership probably won't change at all. Which of course means he will still make boat loads of money off of his extremely annoying videos.

Like there's zero joke here. He paid people to hold up an anti-Semitic image. Like what's the joke? That people will do offensive shit for money?

Actually, you know what, maybe this is funny. PDP became famous, and thus rich, for doing stupid offensive shit and now that same stupid offensive shit is losing him money!

youre right. but he has other ways of making money like those mobile games and merchandise and im sure his fans will continue to support him

Problem is his fan base is arguably very fickle and tend to go with what's hot at the current trends. The situation the guys faces is being usurped by a younger upcoming youtuber.

He is a undoubtedly a talented guy, I just think he relies on his shtick to a detrimental level and that will be tested with these consequences of his actions. Especially when you consider the makeup of his audience.

He does have millions however, I hope he invests it well and he doesn't have to appear on some god awful reality show in years to come.

Yes he is very successful, but I wouldn't have to write the above comment if he didn't piss of the biggest fucking media powerhouse around.
