Their setup is usually a bit better than PDPs. And, it's a work of satire that is usually pretty carefully crafted. The anti-Semite is made to look like a fool and big baby in South Park as well.
Also, one work getting excused does not mean another will as well.

Yes, it is funny that people do not want their brands affiliated with antisemitism. And it isn't really tiptoing, many comedians can make jokes on taboo topics and be just fine.

Matt Stone and Trey Parker are well-known and generally funny satirists and writers. Pewdiepie relied on 4chan memes for extra views. A bit different here.

oh, i'm not calling him a nazi. i'm calling him what he is...a racist. he might grow out of it, as you say, might be taking longer than some to grow up, but with no consequence that will never happen, and until that time i feel stripping him of some of his accomplishments and earnings is a small price to pay for using the holocaust as a punchline.

Seriously...ya'll comparing the creators of one of the longest running shows to whatever it is the PewDiePie does. Even comparing him to content creators like FilthyFrank is hilarious. Guys like CaseyNeistat make PewDiePie look like a glorified Twitch streamer.

What do you mean? Racism doesn't require a warm-up round to alert people of one's true nature. This guy displayed a "Death to all Jews!" message front and center; for someone to think the guy may be racist isn't an overreaction

Nazis are people that believe in the principles of the National Socialist German Workers Party.

A Youtuber playing a crude/offensive joke is either an ass or trying to be funny and misjudging a situation.
Not everyone can be Matt and Trey but they want to be/try to be.

There is a HUGE difference.
 
His YouTube channel is still going to remain open though right? So it won't hurt him much.

Yes I'm well aware that most "rich" YouTubers make significant amounts of money on other forms of revenue.

But he has other forms of revenue such as apps etc, ultimately I don't think this will hurt him much, it's not the first time he's had controversy surrounding him, one was about rape too remember?

Yes we could argue which is worse, but put it this way I won't be shedding tears for him with the fear that he won't make any money any more lol.
 
Good on him for doing the content he wants to do. I don't doubt it's a joke on his part, but he must have known the mainstream reaction and known mainstream press wouldn't miss an opportunity to shit on him. And he did it anyway. So I can't think anything other than good on him.

I don't think he is racist based on the videos I just watched. Bad taste? Yes and stupid. I like absurd and offensive humor, but that worked as well as a led balloon. I am way too old to be part of his audience (my teenager daughter watches him), so I don't know what else he has said. He made a mistake. Learn from it and try to put out a better product.

The ridiculous part about is that it's about potential negative pr to the company, not about whether they actually think this was a justified response or not. If there's enough outrage, that's enough of a reason for faceless corporate pr to decide they'd rather stay out of it. These things happen all the time for anything that's potentially bad for business. Yes, comedians make jokes on taboo topics, and it should be ok, like in this case. When they make a misjudgement and there's outrage over it, they're screwed. But I suppose that's the line of work they're in and need to realize it and see where the line is crossed.

That is why I asked if it was real. I don't follow his videos, I have no idea if he ever actually made something like that or not. Followed by an assumption that IF it was indeed real, it was a lot more than I expected.

Going back to the video in question, I absolutely do not think that he meant any harm in what he did. He just had very very poor judgement and allowed a knee jerk idea of "lol what if I asked them to write death to all jews would they do it OMG THEY DID LOL".

He seems like he feels remorse, and I don't think he deserves the vitriol from the community he's getting, but I do find it completely fair for companies to pull their support from him. Whether or not he was sincere in his antisemitism (which again, I absolutely don't think he was), I as a brand manager would not want an influencer who in part represents my brand displaying such a lack of good judgement.

Look, PDP done fucked up but...this won't end his career. Let's be real here. Anyone who thinks it will is seriously overestimating the maturity level of his gigantic fan base.

As a side note: not loving that "Nazi" is potentially turning into a buzzword. Dark times, man.

Well it is a brand synonymous for it from its outset of "toilet humour", but never for purely pushing that agenda, usually with some undertone of obvious over the top joke or moral, political assertion through its narrative to its conclusion. It became somewhat forgivable over time as it was clear that much was satire and stupidity, warnings plastered over the beginning to get away with satire that even punched at celebrities (i'm always reminded of cartman's transformation into hitler while worshipping mel gibson - where clearly the majority of lead characters are against that)

Pewdiepie on the other hand, is someone that hasn't been associated with that from the beginning and is hooked into brands that wouldn't even go close to even a small joke on such topics. On the topic of the references in question - even the semblance of a joke is missing. On the point of Pewdiepie - no I don't think he is a nazi or anti-semite, but it seems obvious his jokes were poorly constructed and in poor taste because of it; a recurring pattern from him lately.
