It actually makes me feel sorry for Microsoft and Blackberry. I can't see a good reason why anyone would bet on those ecosystems after tonight.

I was personally involved in Vista and, sorry, that didn't bring anything really ground breaking to the table. This product coming tonight will.

I was Apple's #1 fan (quite literally, I was first in line in the Palo Alto Store, which is where Steve Jobs visited, for both the original iPhone and original iPad). I'm no longer an Apple fanboy and the MotoX is yet another reason why. More tonight.

I'll get hyped when I see the phone in action. While I have no interest in purchasing this device, my mom's Galaxy S2 Skyrocket is on life support and she is in desperate need of an upgrade.

Before buying a new phone, I always recommend trying to 'fix' the old one. Before you replace it you could try a reset to factory state or you could try flashing a new different ROM. Make sure its software is up-to-date (GS2 should run Android 4.something and not the 2.3 it came with).

Unless it has physical damage, like a shattered screen, a GS2 should still be perfectly usable. A 1.2 GHz dual-core CPU with 1 GB of RAM is still quite decent.

Oh, I've done everything for her. I've reset the device to factory, I've bought a new battery (which did help with battery life), updated the software, but it is she who wants a new phone. And I don't blame her. When she stares at my HTC One X, she sees what she is missing (my gorgeous 720p screen) and she wants that. She doesn't want to necessarily pay for a high end device, but something within reason. I think the Moto X may be within reason.

Wait, looking at the Verge's website, are we sure that the Verge event going on @ 3:00 ET is really going to announce and show off the Moto X? Or is it gonna be just gonna be a collection of rumors and them discussing it and their impressions?

Because doesn't the actual Motorola event happen at 8:00 PM ET??

My response from the other thread, also.

3:00PM is just when the embargo lifts. By then, the Verge will be able to talk about the press event, which happened already this morning, and show off the device if Motorola gave them one.

8:00PM is the launch party in NYC, which yours truly is attending and hoping to snag a phone or hands-on time. :)
