Anyone ever heard of this before? It seems like a very low rent affair.

Penny Arcade racks up the awards? Uh oh...

EDIT:

Ah they just racked up the nominations... not the actual awards...

It was an award for best gaming comic. There are only, like, 3 in the entire world. Is being the best out of 3 really such an honour?

Why? Simple. Furries vote en masse. If we had a furry running against Bush and Kerry last year, I'm almost certain out president right now would be a guy dressed like a sexy racoon.

Based on that horrible Link animation and the fact that this reply is so funny, I think you deserve to be nominated for next years awards.

OUTSTANDING COMEDIC COMIC:
The Perry Bible Fellowship by Nicholas Gurewitch (WINNER!)
Dinosaur Comics by Ryan North
Narbonic by Shaenon Garrity
The Order of the Stick by Rich Burlew
Penny Arcade by Mike Krahulik & Jerry Holkins

VG Cats by Scott Ramsoomair

one more for the good guys!

OUTSTANDING SHORT FORM COMIC:
The Perry Bible Fellowship by Nicholas Gurewitch (WINNER!)
Dinosaur Comics by Ryan North
Penny Arcade by Mike Krahulik & Jerry Holkins
VG Cats by Scott Ramsoomair

two more for the good guys!

VG Cats is a far cry from a "short form" comic.

And Dinosaur Comics should have beat PBF. Yeah, you heard me.

I might offer the viewpoint that perhaps somebody thought VG Cats was actually, visibly, about VIDEO GAMES more often than PvP and PA, which seem to go meta about the lives (?!) of video game players. As frequently flawed as VG Cats might be, it actually does depict the games themselves more than it does the people playing them. Or uh, people evidently not even related to video games in the first place...

Maybe that's why hardcore gamers like PvP and PA more - narcissism! Or something.

Ironically, I personally would have likely given the award to Penny Arcade here. I do think VG Cats is the better VIDEO GAME comic in terms of representing the theme. But PA has an overall tighter production and tighter writing / characterization. Both comics are flawed though, IMHO: each suffers from the creators' allowing their own geeky fixations to run over the humor in the wrong ways. (Adolecent toilet and sex humor in VG Cats lately, bizarre nerdy hipster chic and personal life not relating to the topic in PA.)

Go Perry Bible!

Now use this award as motivation to get back on track after several near-consecutive "meh" strips.

Yeah, cuz cats dressed like Nintendo characters giving each other oral is so spot on.

Why can't a video game comic depict both equally? Better question: What's wrong with lampooning gamers themselves?

even if VG Cats is more about video games than pvp and PA, that doesn't change the fact that it sucks more than any other webcomic in existence.

Shit, really? Think about it, we have a shit load of informed gamers at GA with wit and a funny bone, and i can draw. Let's do this!
Anyone involved would get into E3 and have hoardes of geeks bowing down to them....

someone needs to start a worst webcomic awards and nominate VG Cats.

The Internet would fucking implode.

I'm afraid not even the combined might of Jerkcity, Leisure Town, and PBF could combat this Webstinction Level Event. That would be like sending the West Coast Avengers to stop Galactus. :P

I argue with a friend about VGCats all of the time. It is the worst fucking net comic ever, but he will never shutup about how funny he thinks it is, and will never stop IMing me new strips. Kill me, now...

Their unreal tournament 2004 demo one was fantastic too. Anybody that plays UT or any FPS in general should see that one. :lol
