Let the games begin

Dis Gon B Good GIF

Surely no one is playing this in resolution mode, you'd really have to hate yourself.

The 60fps mode is silky smooth, just sadly quite low res, but I'll take that over a PowerPoint presentation (that ultimately looks worst in motion)

It's the only mode I can stomach, it looks like shit on a 55inch TV at 1080p, feels like I've plugged the switch in.

Oh boy I wouldn't go that far, it's 1080 not sub 720p haha

I do hope they can some how up the Res to 1440p in the future, or maybe implement some decent upscaling (if that is even possible)

Hard to believe that Series S users are left without a 60 fps mode. Is this game really that heavy on GPU? Because it doesn't look like it is, I mean, it looks as cross-gen as it gets.

Yeah that's what I'm waiting for, like you said even if they added some sort of upscaling it would make me switch back to performance mode, really hoping for a patch at some point.

Until the vrr patch for series consoles this week and Xbox will have both the resolution and performance crown
If the console(s) have enough head room to push higher than 60 at 1080p, they probably have head room to push higher resolution for those who want to lock at 60 FPS.

I'm no developer but that just seems like common sense.

I'm gonna play this at 60 FPS whenever I play it, but I wish it were a higher resolution than 1080p.

It also seems to be common sense to implement the simple to use ps5 ssd api for lightning quick loading times, yet here we are.

The game isn't optimised very well but in saying that techland are still putting out updates for dl1 so it's just a matter of time I think before we get that unlocked resolution mode

This game doesn't look anywhere near good enough to warrant this kind of performance.

Literally better looking last gen games.

I think the devs were alot more rushed than we know. They somewhat pulled this off, but in order to save time they went super conservative with resolution on consoles to avoid the next Cyberpunk comparison. Because at the very least you cannot say this game's performance is anywhere near as bad. Glitches for sure.

Why are the numbers only for 30fps?

Anyway, unimpressive all around.

It plays great on XSX(minus the 1080p resolution and no HDR)
I like that I was able to remap the jump button in the Xbox settings.

You can eradicate the few torn frames on Xbox with VRR, be interesting to see how high the higher frame rate can go and what modes get it. If they can get the 30fps modes unlocked and they are in the fifties it would be a result.

I don't think people realize yet we haven't even come close to what these consoles can actually do. Games are still being designed around Xbox One and PS4 base. The next gen storage APIs are merely being used for the most basic thing possible, and it's to improve loading times, but games aren't yet being designed in a way to, on average, stream significantly more information per second in and out of RAM to achieve things that are truly only possible on the newer systems.

Good job fellas, we did it. We squeaked by and got a win. Everyone can stop holding their breath.

That's not from quality mode? There's 0 torn frames in quality mode on PS5.
Quality mode is the RT mode, right? It's 1080p.

The OP fooled me with only posting the bad Performance Mode.

The best mode for this game is PS5 Quality Mode… sadly it resolution is too low for a 4K TV set.

If they could reach something like 1400-1600p it should be a must.

It's interesting, PS5 performs better in RT mode at the same resolution without any screen tearing apparently. It's essentially locked at 30 FPS while XSX drops as low as 21 FPS with tearing. Proving once again that PS5 can sometimes outperform XSX in RT related modes/scenarios.

The image snip is from the performance mode. I'm only highlighting what's already posted above. The pixel difference I pointed out to be from Quality mode.

The XSX version drops to 21fps suddenly and returns to 30fps in the same instant. It only happens once in the video. It occurs in the transition of an area with nothing happening. There is no performance flaw.

It is funny that someone is saying that it is not worth mentioning that in the XSX resolution mode it works at a higher resolution, and also slightly better fps on performance mode and yet a single moment of transition is highlighted, that has nothing to do with performance / power, and is intended draw conclusions. 🤔😅

PS. I remember when the same one was taken in Control and then we saw the reality via photomode and later solution or patch of the drops in zone transitions a week later.

Ps2. The "VRR mode" in XSX leaves the feeling that there is room to raise the resolution above 1080p on both consoles. It is a pity that DRS is not implemented because resolution in the range 1440-1200-1080p is perfectly possible.
