The talk for ages was that, you know, there's always outside interests in Banjo but they're [Rare leadership] not interested. I mean, Gregg (Mayles) is someone who doesn't look back, notoriously, he said this on the record, that he likes to do new stuff. The attitude from the studio leadership, "no no no, we're gonna do the new thing."

But I heard that recently the pitches are being listened to. I heard constantly the names that comes up is Toys for Bob who really wanna do one. Funny enough, I heard Moon Studios as well was another one who's really interested.

Nintendo should contract Toys for Bob to make an Amiibo game. It doesn't have to be Skylanders-like. A F2P anything at all with rotating characters that you can use permanently if you scan your Amiibo in.

Does Banjo still have any appeal nowadays? the last game was a 360 game, wasn't it? I didn't play the 360 one, was that fun? The N64 ones were collectatons, nowadays I play games for fun stories, I remember I liked Rare's sense of humor, I wonder what would be the setting for a new Banjo game, and the story for it to be good and fun.

It definitely has, if they would actually release a Banjo Kazooie Platformer, not a LBP/ Build it yourself racing thingy they did with Nuts and Bolts. The disappointment was entirely because it wasn't really the Banjo Kazooie game people wanted.

Pitches are "heard" all year round in game studios. How is that news?

"Banjo Kazooie pitch was accepted" would have been news.

Seems like positive defence force to me.

There is 300% appeal. This is one of those OG franchises that people feel nostagic af towards, and that on it's own will get a lot of eyes on the game. It's also a game people been asking forever. And the 360 game, Nuts n Bolts, was nothing like what Banjo is supposed to be. It was experimental, and not a quality platformer like the first two titles were. They also used a really fugly aesthetic for Nuts n Bolts, which ain't gonna help them sell the game.

360 game was so bad for some that they do not even call it banjo 3

I just can't see it. Maybe if the new DK game sells boatloads or something.
I mean, it definitely will. But that's a 1st-party Nintendo game developed by their most talented team, it basically doesn't count.

But I'm hoping the industry sees Astro Bot and realizes that people still want AAA 3D platformers when they're done right. I'd really love to have more.

Fuck giving anything to Moon studio, Thomas Mahler is a right nonce with his gaming opinions and ego. Dude was seething 24/7 over Hollow Knight and couldn't let go. Nah, fuck that, I'd rather anyone else than him.

It would sell like crap anyway . It's not yooka laylee sold in great numbers
Banjo Kazooie is Banjo Kazooie, an IP that sold several millions on N64(I believe it was one of the highest selling exclusives on the device, up there with SM64 and OOT) while Yooka Laylee is ... Well Yooka Laylee, an almost unknown IP by comparison

This right here 💯

BK is almost 30 years old. It only holds a warm place for those who played it at the time. I am gonna give the YL remake some support even though Im not a fan of the original.

People and the market have moved on from 3D platform games not from Sonic or Nintendo, that's to overlook how there was a massive drop off from Banjo Kazooie to s Banjo Kazooie 2 sales
And those who cared about Banjo Kazooie knew full well who was behind Yooka Laylee, let's not kid ourself's on that one

I love to see a new Wave Race but I'm sure Nintendo knows the market moved on from those days

Banjo is not an active IP. The people who made it have all long since left Rare. Theres no one left there who could even do it. Themselves, the games were a product of their time. Go back and play them. Doing a reboot would be next to impossible and far more than the literal sales of the games on n64, the audience expectations would be nigh impossible to meet. To say nothing of the financial expectations of the publisher.

Let Banjo 3 go. Just, let it go.

why is nuts and bolts not considered 3?

He left.

heres the truth.
game is going to sell shit , nobody gives a crap about banjo kazooie, just like jak and daxter series
I think that's true for Banjo. It would sell 1-3 million, tops.

I actually think Jak 4 would be far more popular. It's edgier, more mature, strong lore, better storytelling, lots more to do there that would appeal to a modern console audience. With the weapons, vehicle combat, etc there's a lot you could do there.

But Naughty Dog is allergic to sequels of old IP so we'll never get it.

What's the point, it's as known as Bubsy and Zool to kids these days. If they'd capitalized on the Smash character with a game they might have got a boost but now even that is a fading memory.

It would need Nintendo promoting it and an actually decent game to sell anything close to it's cost. Judging by the recent state of MS we can't guarantee it's quality and Nintendo have DK, Kirby, Yoshi and Mario to fill it's role anyway.

Who cares. None of these studios actually capture what the old games were all about, they just wear the name like a skinsuit. This was the case for The Initiative's dreadful looking Perfect Dark, which had none of the British charm and humor the original was known for.

it's dead.
Those are long dead franchises of failed mascots.
If it was up to me as a CEO, I would laugh in the face of anyone pitching this shit to me.
No way in hell any of this would sell nowadays.

Mario is king. Astrobot is long long long long way behind and even as next best selling platformer, probably is barely making it

Banjo Kazooie has about as much credibility as Spyro or Busby the Bobcat. A absolute nothing IP known only to starving n64 owners.
Arguably the best 3d platformer ever created but yes only people in the old folks home know about this but who cares tbh. All people talk about is fornite, cod, fifa and gta lol, they dont even play video games. It could be worth doing under the right team.

The same thing literally helped Crash Bandicoot remaster trilogy sell 10 million units(?), the nostalgia people had for the IP on PSOne. It definitely would be the same for Banjo Kazooie. I think People actually underestimate how beloved the IP is, especially among Gamers that are millennials

Edit:

Just checked, it actually did 20 Million+ units overall

Explain the n sane trilogy then? 👀 Again people underestimate the Nostalgia people have for Banjo Kazooie, remember it was one of the best selling Games on the N64
