Not gonna lie, but this basically slaps down Proelite and Aegis and the shit they've been hyping for the past month.
With some devs saying Orbis is only "slightly more powerful", it makes me think there's something missing or we don't have the whole picture.
CPU - Identical
GPU - Orbis > Durango
Memory - It's just different, no clear winner
Overall Orbis looks more developer friendly and powerful, but it might not have the media features of Durango (DVR etc...).
This week we'll probably have numbers.Any estimates yet on the Wii U GPU stats and all that?
Isn't this what most reasonable people always expected? Once that leaked PP came out, it clearly pointed toward this.
MS is positioning themselves as affordable with a reasonable amount of power. Plus, third-party games will almost assuredly look nearly identical to Orbis. It's not a bad place to be if they can undercut Sony's price.

They're still a lot closer to Sony than they are to Nintendo.
No it doesn't. At LEAST wait until PS4s specs have been revealed in a few weeks before we declare vgleak's to have unarguable credibilityNot gonna lie, but this basically slaps down Proelite and Aegis and the shit they've been hyping for the past month.
OUTPUT - Both the DB and the CB have substantial caches on die, and all depth and color operations are performed locally in the caches. Access to these caches is faster than access to ESRAM. For this reason, the peak GPU pixel rate can be larger than what raw memory throughput would indicate. The caches are not large enough, however, to fit entire render targets. Therefore, rendering that is localized to a particular area of the screen is more efficient than scattered rendering.
I feel ashamed for even believing all the BS they were spouting. They should be called out for what they said.
The information here is 100% legit.
Not really, even this is just a pile of steaming rumors, we had no idea until the final product is here.
Orbis wins in memory department. More bandwidth, unified pool, no copy overhead.
I've only skimmed, and would need to check some specifics against other AMD whitepapers, but so far, so very GCN.
Surprised at the ROPs though. Why cut back so much on that? Would they run into bandwidth problems first?
Your math is pathetic too But I agree that it does sound relatively weak50% less FLOPS. 50% less ROPS.
It's pretty pathetic.
I do not know why people are so upset about the GPU. It looks like an efficient piece of hardware that should be more than sufficient to run some great looking next gen games thanks to optimization to target specs, resolution and framerate.
I am pretty certain it will run games like Watch Dogs and beyond more than adequately.
One think its safe to say that Durango games will be targeting 720p.
Not as good as Orbis (on paper) but should be cheaper to produce.
Personally I want a good balance of performance and price.
One think its safe to say that Durango games will be targeting 720p.
How do we get a wash in power with these specs?
Are we missing something? Durango looks seriously gimped compared to Orbis if true.
One think its safe to say that both consoles will be targeting 720p.

It's conjecture.
Sounds like the rumour of Durango going with partially rendered textures to me... I really hope so.....

Why? I'd rather pay more 50-100 euro more once if this means every single game I'll buy in the next five, six years will look substantially better.

Calling them out?
Probably the same kind of developers who would argue that xbox and ps2 were comparable.
From these rumors, Durango looks terribly conservative. So I'm guessing MS's deal is gonna be to launch one of the Sku's at a much lower price than Sony's.
But what does that mean?
Fixed cause it's confusing having two lines with different order of comparison.
VGbullshit.
Fixed.
Ilherre didn't lie about the Wii U power...
It's conjecture.
They've been going by THESE rumors. How do they go from "Durango is better" to THIS!?
Yes. I am. They need to keep their integrity and really? They didn't, it just makes them look like fools. Possibly ignorant fools, but still fools.

not from what i see, it looks pretty damn in the middle. they're even going with the 32MB of embedded RAM.

It's a big leap from the XBOX 360.
Given how great Halo 4 and Forza Horizon look, I'll gladly take it.
Ilherre didn't lie about the Wii U power...
Nah, I think we'll see a decent amount of next-gen games either targeting 60fps or 1080p on Orbis.Fixed.
I'm not saying what they did is any better but you trying to say they are wrong with more rumors isn't helping matters.
Personally I like facts, assuming gives us nothing.
What you're doing right now is just as ignorant as what they did....
So what did llherre say about Durango.
