VGLeaks rumor: Durango CPU Overview

Kinda late for a C&D though.

My thought as well. The only reasoning behind something like that is that they have their stuff presented from real documentation as opposed to just saying the nebulous "sources". Since they also have a proven track record now they may have just gotten hit since people will now take them more seriously. Still seems weird to me.

Maybe there are two different SKUs. One is a more typical console with a BR drive included. The second is the "Set top box" version, downloadable contents only, online required, with a subsidized pricing model. Naturaly the online only version does not support used games, but the standard one might. Calling it now ;)

LOL and people were saying MS fans wanted to believe anything.

Info disappearing from a site with confirmed accurate leaks is a bit different from a new user making a single outlandish post on a message board. Still, we probably should have waited about 5 minutes before jumping to conclusions :lol

"Omigod cease and desist orders! Microsoft Ninjas are shutting them down because it's all true."

It's all equally silly.

possible, but who will receive the blow ps4 or Xbox 720 for being weaker?

I fear for the well-being of the fans of the super-duper powerful console that once again loses out to the weaker one. Mostly I just fear that next gen is just going to be an endless stream of FPS and Gears/Uncharted knockoffs, and most of the unique stuff will be on phones/tablets.

psn, xbla and steam have been home to some of the most unique and great games this generation, i doubt next-gen is gonna change that.

Every gen has gone through pretty big shift in what the one big genre is. Kart racers, mascot platformers, plastic instrument games, and FPS have all been the dominating genres at different points. I'm optimistic that things will shift and that indie devs will still be able to do their thing on the download services.

According to Mario at Pik Pok, it's definitely changing. At DICE apparently a good number of indie devs expressed frustration with both Sony and Microsoft on the downloadable/pricing front. I assume he was talking about the future platforms and not what's happening right now.

Sony's letting indies self publish and price on PS4. I can't imagine anyone being upset about that.

Would be interesting to hear what developers are saying about that. Because purely as a concept it sounds exactly what people want, but I don't have specifics.

Some posters here are feeding you bull....hope they get banned once the official spec are out. ;)

If push comes to shove and I'm forced to share that document with Y2Kev, so be it.

But you're suggesting some who have shared old specs to be banned?

That's the PS4 announce pretty much. Light on specifics. But that's what the next 6-8 months are for.

I just really hope patching is streamlined on consoles. It's really holding a lot of games back. CS:GO is missing a ton of new features and improvements versus the PC version.

Yup. One of the most interesting things about next-gen is certification.

valve is done with console gaming, they are probably focusing on seambox

And why shouldn't they. Poorly thought put and unnecessarily arbitrary patch certification system, equally arbitrary game certification (CS:GO still not available in the UK on PSN) and the less said about the DLC restrictions on XBL, the better.

Just using it as an extreme example since Valve has been pretty open about how expensive/slow patching on consoles is. I want iOS style updating, on the developers own time with patch notes every time.

I look forward to the smack talk coming from both sides when MS finally gets around to announcing their machine. What they do and don't show is going to be highly scrutinized compared to what Sony did and didn't show. The best thing for spectators will be if the machines are actually different from one another. "Power means more! More frames!" "Nuh uh, services, content and convenience means more nyyahhhhhhh nyahhhh". I just made myself a little sick.

But MS won't announce meaningful specs to allow meaningful comparison. It'll be down to picking apart and interpreting semantics, which will get tiresome very quickly.

Considering these threads have run on fumes for months I would have to disagree.

We no longer have a situation where two comparable consoles in which one has a whole year head start, and hopefully there is no longer an inhibitive price point or exotic hardware resulting in inferior multiplatform games and fewer ports, so most likely the race will start at least even for Sony, MS seems to be using their console to fight on multiple fronts, one which is to become the media hub, and the other to capture that casual audience, and their machine has to be able to handle all of those, the fight in NA will likely be much closer while MS will once again lose in Japan..

Hi gaming_noob,

Yes, I believe that has been posted...and that is why I am surprised we really haven't heard any "leaks" from either participants purported to be in attendance, nor 2nd hand "leaks" from people getting insider reports. At least, there doesn't seem to have been any so far.

Thanks again, Reiko.

There is a few things that puzzle me about VGleaks. By staggering the leaks they risk being beaten to the punch with news.......so what makes them so confident? And with the whole SuperDaE connection, why are Sony/MS not going after them? Very strange if you ask me!

Sony/Microsoft aren't going after vgleaks because they can't, they haven't broken the law. Also vgleaks has more then one source.

Because it's an internal MS event. So hugely unlikely that anyone would jeopardize their own position, or screw up major product planning for their own company.

The leaks so far have been based on documents provided to 3rd party developers. Hence no info on BC, security, background OS tasks, apps etc.

In that case, when is the earliest opportunity that we may get some "fresh" information with regards to Durango. Would it be the Game Developer's Conference?
