Vice Documentary - Bam Margera

Great documentary, but I never got the feeling he was in recovery. It seems like he was sober for the sole purpose of getting in shape for Skating. I have known addicts who are able to sober up for weeks or even a year or so in order to get a job or get in shape, but as soon as they are comfortable they fall back into bad habits. Novak even says he hopes Bam is one of the people that can become sober without the tools he needed to learn in order to get clean which I think is pretty telling, like Bam is a "cold turkey" kind of guy. Nothing about what Bam says makes me think he considers drinking was a problem. It seems like he just didn't like the people he was with because all they had in common was drinking and how he only drank when he was bored. So what happens after his Skating project is finished and he gets bored again? It's clear that neither Phil nor April are going to challenge him. I hope he stays sober but after April told the story about the time in Barcelona when he had a glass of wine saying it was nothing and it turned into him getting drunk I don't think he will remain sober long term. I really hope for his sake and the sake of his child he can get past it and find something out of the limelight to keep him focused. Running a Skateshop or something would be awesome for him in my opinion.

I guess I missed that he's been clean for 2 years. Ive heard for years now off and on that he's clean, he constantly relapses. Maybe it's legit this time, but I feel like those 2 together just can't work.
 
Just finished the video. Nice doc, hope Bam pulls through and looks like he has the resources and the support group to pull do it.
 
Just watched the video. It was really good. I've always been interested in the background story of the production of Jackass and related things. Hopefully Bam keeps on track in getting better.
 
Aw man. This is so good. Glad to see Bam doing his best to fight his demons. Watching those CKY clips really brought me back. Im going to go watch those again. Great doc.
 
Hope he gets back on his feet. Especially with a kid coming. I was a big fan of his in the early days and wish him the best. I kinda fell off with Viva La Bam.

Seems like his parents were great and super supportive. Part of me can't help but wonder if they weren't a bit TOO supportive, but people are gonna do what they are gonna do I guess.

Knoxville is a Hollywood actor. He's like the only member of Jackass that didn't hit rockbottom or disappear from the spotlight. Every now and then he still tries to capitalize on the Jackass brand. Apparently he's open to do Jackass 4.

CKY had episodes on the side of alt right racist shit. Only when they went Jackass that was greatly culled in the interest of broader public appeal

Oh man, he was my absolute fave from all the Jackass crew and in the Tony Hawk games too. I always choose him! He definitely doesn't look like in great shape. I thought he was going to look much worse but glad he is now getting in shape and putting things back on track to have a healthy lifestyle. In other words: Glad he is getting shit done now and I wish him the very best! Wish I could get my hands on on of his new Element skateboards but it seems it's only available on the US :(

Pretty sure Steve O is doing great ironically. He goes on tour a lot doing stand up comedy and is clean as far as I know. Pretty sure he's dedicated to sobriety and last I heard him on a podcast he was worried about Bam

That's the thing. Steve O almost died a few years ago. I remember the interview and he was saying after he left the doctors office, he took his shit to Dr Drew and Drew looked it over and was like "Holy shit, you should be dead."
 
It's crazy to think out of all the people on Jackass/Cky that Steve-O and Novak are the ones that seem to have gotten their lives back on track.

Really hope that Bam can do it and just do whatever makes him happy and stays healthy.
 
Used to listen to his radio show which was a thing for almost 10 years on Sirius xm. There's a lot of good insight there throughout he episodes of all their stories and issues . there was an episode where Bam was in a rehab for something like 3 days and left, probably almost 10 years ago now.

Edit: there was also an episode where he was 25 or so and he was talking about being given meth thinking it was coke and then eating a large amount of weed. He went into some panic attack outer body state and thought he was dead or going to die. He was drinking heavily for a long long time and prescribed Adderall which he went on benders on both with.

Novaks escapadeswere well documented here too. There's at least 3 episodes I remember where it was just the guys giving Novak an intervention or kicking him out or he was on he phone talking about killing hjmself because he was all fucked on heroine and Xanax and coke and booze.
