This sucks that I can't watch the debate till I'm home from school. Sounds like the leftists are praising Biden, people who liked or hated Ryan are going "meh" and Wolf Blitzer is confirming that he's the idiot that he is. Fun stuff.

Angry? ... No? But I didn't celebrate it, and if you want to go search that thread you'll find I said it was sort of a draw; that Obama was too laid-back, and Romney was too aggressive. So... yup, I'm consistent.

Bullshit. Liberal GAF was freaking the fuck out.

Moderator pissed me off a bit. Joe asked Ryan straight up if people making under $100k would see the mortgage interest deduction disappear, and she didn't let him answer.

Biden should not have been as condescending, still hes the only person who gave a straight answer. The other guy came off as green and a liar. Can anyone honestly say they could imagine Ryan as stepping into the president role if something happened to Romney?

Mostly because I don't like either candidate.

I don't feel either are fit to run this country.

Also, I live in Georgia. Georgia is almost always voting republican. If I decided to go democrat, my vote would fall on deaf ears around here.
Oh, so your vote actually doesn't matter. (lol, that's actually a good reason.)

What are you looking for in policy though?

CNN saying that Ryan appeared more presidential, and Biden was condescending at times.

and americans tell me CNN is liberal :p

and now saying Ryan proved himself unexpectedly and met his test....

Did CNN suddenly switch to FOX?

Talking to the wrong Americans. CNN has been a joke and a Fox-lite wannabe for years. They are so focused on trying to be 50/50 the refuse to acknowledge that situations can in reality be 100% one way or 80/20 in either direction. They believe in false equivalences so they aren't labeled as liberal when republicans are in the wrong.

CNBC says it's a Ryan win.

They must be deaf.

They must be. Ryan repeated shitty rehearsed lines. Biden swatted down lies and was actually talking. He hit Ryan with everything he had. I'm sorry, but if you think that's a Ryan win, you're fucking nuts. Romney won the last debate. I admit that. This was more one sided than that was, in my opinion.

Vote; also, nice assessment.

With an electoral college my vote is pointless in my state. My state votes the same way always, regardless of me. If I lived in Ohio or Florida you bet your ass I'd vote. I'd also move.

The Onion uses Ann Coulter for material now? I had no idea she was a contributor. Makes a lot of sense when you think about it.

Politico said:
“Obama was depressed and looking down,” the conservative commentator said Thursday morning on Fox News’s “Fox and Friends.” “You could see, at the end of that debate, he knew — anniversary or not — Michelle wanted to go home with Mitt.”

I live in Georgia too and vote Democrat. It doesn't matter what state you live in. Stand up for what you believe in.

GAF has a positive reaction to smarmy condescension, surprise surprise.
Its to balance the comatose Obama from the first debate. We needed it.

But honestly, what did Ryan get right in this debate? Because I don't see it. I may be clouded by bias and I may possibly be a little buzzed. Its possible.

But for those seeing a tie or a more balanced debate, ... how? What substance did Ryan bring to the table?

Yes very one sided. The lady won by a landslide.

What I'm gathering from the Biden haters is it was up to Obama to step up and not to get walked on, stepped on and interrupted and God bless Romney for going in on him but now it's shame on Biden?

Guess what? If I was trying to have a serious conversation with you on important topics and all you could spout were the same two or three platitudes again and again, as if you were some piss-poor actor reading from part of a play script in an audition, I would have a hard time not laughing too.

I think the lack of specifics, and the constant reminder of there being a lack of specifics, will hurt the Ryan and Romney.

Do the independents really buy the 5-point plan which basically goes:

1. Would be nice.
2. Would be helpful.
3. This would also be nice.
4. Then we can do this.
5. And maybe that.

Seriously?

There was a NPR Planet Money podcast with multiple economist from both sides of the spectrum, and ending the mortgage interest deduction was one of the few things they all agreed on. Evey economists said it is awful for the economy.

Even if they cut back, unless we go through a BRAC my job is super secure. We've already started rounds of layoffs, and I'm so high on the seniority list - even if I didn't have a vital position - that I'd be in the last 20% of people laid off, and the layoffs are never going to get to that point.

That said, if it WERE to get to that point, my position would be that I do not selfishly want a new war just so I can keep my job. That is not an equivalent exchange, ya know? I am happy Obama ended the war in Iraq, and I'm glad Afghanistan is done in 2014. It's the lack of new wars to justify new defense spending that's the source of any potential closures in the future.

But our depot is uniquely situated to take advantage of offload from the ending of wars. During the BRAC in the 90s, we modernized our facilities and took off MASSIVE amount of workload from other closing Depots. Because of that, we do 1 billion dollars of work per year, and even more when the wars are going at full blast. We're now pretty much irreplaceable.

Personally for me it was interesting to see how my politics changed while working for a defense contractor and then subsequently getting laid off. Was amusing to get mailings suggesting who to vote for but not forcing to keep our interests in line with the business. After getting laid off and defense cuts costing me my job was also interesting to see how less of a shit I gave about maintaining a military presence overseas.

The difference is that Ryan lost both on style and substance. Biden exposed the toxic beliefs that Ryan and Romney have, and that's far more damaging that style alone.

NPR? Liberal bullshit!

Ryan is a great u̶s̶e̶d̶ ̶c̶a̶r̶ ̶s̶a̶l̶e̶s̶m̶e̶n̶ ̶ debater. The way he twisted some of the facts around was clever. Like what he said about removing troops in Iran. Like we were actually just going to remove troops and leave a few soldiers behind to defend against re-surging insurgents; instead of replacing them with the trained Iranians. He's right that we shouldn't announce our plans though.

Biden had a few hiccups here and there, but he did good as far as I can tell.

The people who own these media outlets and pay people like Wolf Blitzer are Republicans and they have no interest in saying that Biden 'won' this debate. It really is that simple.

LOL, Democrats can't win, basically.

Don't call out Republican bullshit, you're weak and complacent.

Call out Republican bullshit, omg you're so rude!!!
I don't think it has anything to do with calling anyone out - Biden was on the money there. I think some people (myself included) expect more class from a debate instead of smirks, laughing, interrupting, whining about time, etc.

Biden looked like a child in that regard. This is a debate for the Vice Presidency. Calling people out, bravo! Acting like you are 5, no dice.

Please son. The healthcare stuff? Taking money from medicare to obamacare? Ryan bringing up all the unfulfilled Obama promises? Ryan lost the specifics of their tax plan. But what else was he dominated ?

Biden killed him on unemployment going down and on Ryan begging for stimulus funds.
