There should definitely be some more tests when you get old to see if you can actually still drive. One time hen I was working at a gas station, this old lady plowed right fucking through. I'm not talking just hit the gas station. She was through the damned thing. I was at the register at the time, and it was crazy. She nailed the entire alcohol aisle.

Then she was freaking out because she thought her children wouldn't let her drive anymore. I'm just thinking no fucking shit. You just ran through a giant stationary object. You probably shouldn't be driving!

I don't care how good of a shape you're in at 92, you shouldn't be driving at that age. Imagine if there were people walking around in his path of destruction, he could have killed someone.

Yeah, the elderly wouldn't allow that even though they're the second highest risk drivers but past a certain age even yearly testing shouldn't be out of the question just because of how sharply the elderly can decline physically and mentally in a relatively short period of time.

It already exists, its the intro tutorial of Driver.
Heh heh heh.

What if the person lives alone, can't afford Uber or taxis, can't afford a home nurse?

What if they're kids live in another state or faraway?

I think this debate just shows how badly we treat the elderly as a society. Not to mention poor public transportation infrastructure in many many places in the US.

After you turn 60 it should be a requirement to take a drivers test again every 5 years. After 75 it should be every two years.

I agree, we need better transportation options for the elderly, including state-run and funded transportation services

Insane that people of that age are still permitted to operate a motor vehicle. I'm all for retesting after a certain age. Years ago, I was hit going through an intersection by an elderly man who didn't stop, just blew through and t-boned my car.
