Video Games Live Concert

I wish i could hear some music samples from the concert. The music playing during the trailer just seemed to be the actual music from Halo.
 
I wasn't too pleased with how they cancelled the initial concert run _after_ they sold tickets, with only the explanation that they were reworking things and that new details would be up "in a week or two" (the actual info update didn't come until two months later), forcing early buyers to seek out refunds and try to buy similar tickets again.

People I talked to about it at the time said the concert was mediocre at best. I don't know myself, and maybe they improved things when they cancelled the initial concert schedule and delayed things for several months, but at this point, I don't feel like giving them another chance, personally.
 
bomb bomb. I just got a call from ticketmaster, seems like there's another round of cancellations for this thing. This time they cancelled...............EVERY SHOW! There were more than a dozen left.

Well except the two at the end of the month. Even though I heard pretty mediocre things about this, I did buy some tickets was was semi looking forward to it. There's a crummy PR on the front page by Tommy Tallarico explaining the cancellations. What POS management.

Yeah no kidding. I just wish they'd do it here again this year. Unfortunately i don't have time or $1000 to go to Japan (not to mention if I were to go to Japan i'd probably spend 8 times that amount on useless crap, ufo catcher, figures, games and arcades.) This info is probably deserving of its own topic as i haven't seen anyone post it but for those of you in Japan, you better go to Voices and you better record every second of it in February and torrent it here, thats not a request.

I was thinking of going to visit my friends in Yokohama some time early next year. This seems way too perfect. I think I have to go.

This week I'm going to see a Classic Albums Live concert for $15 (this month they're covering Led Zeppelin 1), and last week I bought tickets for Kardinal Offishall ($15), and a Pink Floyd tribute group called Comfortably Numb ($30). A couple weeks ago I missed out on a sold out Matthew Good show ($35).

Christ, last month I had a general floor ticket for U2 at $50 that got me within 20 feet of them, and earlier this month I saw arguably the greatest rock and roll band ever in the Rolling Stones for $60. And this unproven, nerdy show that I've yet to hear rave reviews from has the nerve to charge $50? With a string of canceled shows in it's back pocket? :lol Bite me.

You know, they should only put this show on in very big cities or places where there are huge industry prescence.

The biggest problem is that no one knows about this show! I only found out about it because I just happened to see the words "Video Games Live" scroll across the dot matrix screen out from of the Queen Elizabeth theater. I then had to go to ticket master online to see what the hell it was. There is zero advertising outside of that screen for this show in the city. No posters on street level construction sites, no posters at game shops, nothing.

Meanwhile, EA in the Vancouver area has over 1000 people, Rockstar and Radical with over 100 each among others who already have an interest in games and gaming and hardly anyone knows about it. The audience is right there and they are oblivious. It is insane.
 
I've seen a couple of small newspaper ads in the concert section, but other then that the only other advertising I've seen is at the end of Electric Playground shows, which isn't exactly Seinfield in the viewing audience category.

I'm starting to highly doubt it. It would make too much sense at this point... like someone recording that German Games Show concert last year. Things which should have been done, but weren't.
 
I think there will be an official CD. The way they've designed the logo for it and really changed up the set list, it seems like a CD release is in the works.

Just as long as they don't do a limited release to the Japanese fan club, I mean :(

Some friends went to the show and said it was SUPER corny. I wouldn't lose too much sleep orer this thing.

If you're really hurting for some Tallarico action go down to the pirate store and get some flowery shirts and you'll be good to go. :lol
