It's funny, I played Pokemon Prism recently, and the Gen 2 art style being applied honestly made the Gen 3 and beyond Pokemon feel more "real" to me. Like there weren't "Pokemon" and "new Pokemon", they all felt like they could have been in the game together at anytime or from the beginning.
