Sigh, more toxic Masculinity patriarchical nonsense...HALLELUJAH!!!!!

Though I feel like the best kills were in that trailer.

O my god that looks awesome.

Last year we had Fatman, this year Violent Night.

We need more Christmas-themed action movies [though Fatman was more drama than action, I guess].

John Leguizamo shooting a Christmas tree with a machine gun out of spite...some fun moments in there.

From Tommy Wirkola, writer/director of Dead Snow 1 & 2.
Love Tommy Wirkolas stuff. The Trip and What happened to Monday were his most recent stuff and were still awesome, I even liked Hansel and Gretel which was his only big budget english language film. He is big on practical gore effects and dark humor so I am definitely gonna be watching this.

I waited until Christmas Eve to watch this with my partner, and that was the best fucking choice, this is going into the yearly rotation. Seriously GAF, if you haven't checked it out and just want a film that's pretty much Home Alone and Die Hard mixed together and remains as close to an 80s action film as possible, this is it.

Santa performs a fucking FATALITY!

Same here, we watched it last night. Better than I thought it would be, you know what your getting into if you see the trailer and I feel you get abit more aswell, one of the better Christmas films out there.

10/10. Doesn't exactly what you'd want from it. It's cheesy, has slapstick and a little more nuanced humour, plenty of violence and gore, but doesn't look cheap.

I really want to see a Santa origin story based on this. The Viking origins and how old he said he was don't quite line-up, but I'd take it.

I may have to watch this. Is there a ton of gore and wearing? Gauging the kid friendliness
Hmmm, if you're okay with your kids playing Mortal Combat or watching Shaun of the Dead, then it'll be fine. Sorry, can't think of any better examples.

There's plenty of gore and violence, and the gore is pretty 'realistic' though still very clearly comedy (think eyes getting impaled, but not long shots of gutted intestines or the like). I'd be more concerned that it's violence against people (even though they are clearly the baddies), so as along as your kids are capable of seeing it for the entertainment it is and not take it as a life lesson, then you'll be fine.

I watched this again in theaters last night since Avatar 2 4DX was sold out. I'd already seen it twice.

It's a fun action Christmas movie, a little too much on the long side. This would work better as a 90 minute film getting straight to the point. Too many long conversations I think the dialogue could have been condensed.

Still, I'm grateful this is out since there is a lack of new Christmas movies this year. I saw The Mean One which was ok but not as fun as Violent Night.

EDIT: That trailer does show way too much. First time I saw it I went in blind so I got a real kick out of seeing that it would do the "Santa is real" card. All the deaths were funny and it felt novel for a Christmas movie compared to what I'm used to (Elf, Christmas Vacation, The Santa Clause).

While showing off all the cool deaths in the trailer might generate interest, it also hurts word of mouth if audiences dont feel any surprise from the movie itself.
