Visions of Mana |OT| This Game Runs on Alm My Consoles

I've subscribed to GP to play this game (among others), but it could hardly start worse.
The over-designing of the characters is really distracting and spoils the otherwise rather dramatic intro. Doesn't help that the first two teammates you recruit are basically furries, one of them a tsundere as well.

The traversal is quite a chore, too. Just too many pickups scattered everywhere. You basically run from one shiny to another, then you spot a chest, and then a line of those honey blobs to give to the bear merchants. Meanwhile, run is assigned to L3. They could hardly make things more annoying there.

And then… well… what happens in the first 2-3 hours of the game is simply boring. The pacing is all wrong.

I've met the dandy cat warrior and then I've stopped playing for about ten days at this point.
Does it get any better? How long is it for just a quick playthrough?
I enjoyed the Trials of Mana remake because it's a very simple, no-nonsense game with good designs and good combat flow. This one seems to want to be like that, but overcomplicates things tenfold and the chara designs are one step away from hideous. I can hardly find the will to keep playing.

Well if that's how you feel about the game so far I guess the rest of it won't change your mind, but I absolutely loved it, and it was a contender for my personal GOTY in 2024.

I enjoyed all the characters, the combat system was mostly a step-up compared to Trials (although the shared CS gauge was disappointing), the soundtrack is great. There's a part after you get your third party member (yes, still a furry) where the story really takes off and I couldn't stop playing until 3am.

English voices suck and ruin the characters though.

That's the usual bloat that affects every modern JRPG nowadays. I couldn't get into this game, I felt like I was wasting my time. I swear these games are designed to feel like work.

Trials of Mana was much better, but it was way too easy.
