Vita "hacked," (PSP) homebrew on the way (not piracy)

Download this: http://www.filedropper.com/homebrew

Put that in the same folder as the original save exploit. Copy over the save, with that ZIP file included. It's the same proccess for how you got the SNES emu on there.

It's an FTP app, which allows you to connect to your PC/MAC over Wifi and transfer files that way. It's a lot easier, and you're going to NEED it once Sony releases a new firmware update (because you need PSN access to use the content manager).
I actually just downloaded the vitaftp app listed at the top of the page:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=43038613&postcount=2151

I can access my vita files on the computer!!

but the issue still remains, how do I get my emulator to see and recognize my roms?

I see them listed in PSP/GAME/SNES/GAMES jus chillin there,

but is it a punctuation/capitalization issue I am now dealing with? or do I need to stick the roms into a new folder?

When you launch your emulator, click on the two "..". By default it looks in a certain folder, but it looks like yours isnt in them. Browse your memory card to find them.

So err.. for those who are out of luck because urbanix and that blocks game are gone.. is there any truth behind the lbp / tekken 6 rumor? (i understand probably no one knows, but has been clearly debunked, or..). Cause tekken 6 is forty bucks.

I would find it kind of strange if lbp allowed the cfw, b/c in that case, the cfw should probably have been released for it first (given that probably many people have it from the psnocalpyse)

Don't buy LBP or Tekken 6, they were rumours.

Thanks, you just saved me 40 bucks. I saw Lololo mentioning them earlier in the thread, but I couldn't tell if if he was trolling or giving us a hint.

Well, i hope some other mini will lead to CFW. I really want to get complete MGS / FF on a memory card.

Really pissed off that my Vita is broke (its doing the no power screen thing, but holding the power button doesn't fix it, I've tried a lot of times).

Would love to get in on this.

lol same problem!

sweeeeet thanks a lot!

last question (I hope!), u said firmware issues are gonna prevent us from using the CMA method,

so in regards to backups, is the FTP transfer a feasible way to load them in?

I would think using a wire to transfer large iso files would be ideal, but if you're gonna do it thru a wireless FTP method wouldnt it take forever?

or does it not due to some wizardry technology I am not familiar with?

This is actually all pretty neat as long as Vita games don't get hacked. That was really my only worry at the startings of all this. Its actually pretty nice to have a way to rip and install your old UMDs onto a vita.

One question though, whats the deal with using this with PSN? Whats the worst that could happen other then them fixing the exploit, making the exploit unusable?

Yeah FTP will continue to work, it's smart to install it while you can. I'm not sure about USB though. There are PSP apps that are out there to manage files, but I'm assuming that since they were designed for the PSP, not the Vita, USB access might not work. I'll check it out though and let you know.

thanks... how about a gba one?
Try this one: http://dl.qj.net/psp/emulators/uo-gpsp-kai-34-test-3.html

Speaking of GBA, here's a few shots. The GBA version Yoshi's Island runs at a perfect 60fps. The SNES one runs at 25fps.

craaaaaap even with the euphoria emulator I cant get games to load,

they load up, and I get a black screen with a FPS counter at the top right.

>_< I'm gonna go to bed, I'll worry more about this tomorrow

Could be that your roms are bad. How many most of them are just the name, with out stuff like (U)[!].smc

Yep.

After holding back from buying a Vita for some time now due to lack of available games that I'll actually devote playing in (e.g Persona 4 and that's it really), having homebrew with emulators will finally make me open up the wallet for this handheld console.

The possibilities are endless IMO.

Just so you know you need software from the PSN store that's been pulled already.
Mother of God.

Actually it's quite limited, what you get with the PSP is basically all you can do with the current exploit.

I installed FTP is there any real reason to use it instead of CMA? It seems really slow comparatively. I installed open cma, so I'm not really worried about sony trying to force update it, since it is no longer is forced to go online.

On a side note I also installed Snes9x Euforia r5 beta 3 updated, it's really good but I highly recommend you adjust the settings. Do this by pressing R and L then scroll right or left until you find the "Video" tab then locate "frame skip" it's set to 3 by default, change it to 0 and also enable "V sync" while you are at it, this should make most all your roms buttery smooth. Scroll back to "Game" and save these settings as DEFAULT.

Why the heck are people considering buying a Vita JUST for this?

You want emulation on PSP hardware? Buy a PSP on the cheap, load HBL and there you go. While you're at it, get a big Memory Stick Pro Duo for a slashed price somewhere, and load that puppy up with all you want.

I get the allure of the OLED, but it's not worth the price for emulation.

My Blood-red God of War edition PSP 2000 is doing that for me now. Loaded my old SNES / GENESIS roms, PlayStation ISOs and I use it for just that. Still gets game time.

No one said they're buying a Vita just for this... I think everyone here already had one.

Tell me if I did this normally.

1. Created folder structure. Added FTP app and ripped UMDs.
2. Transferred save to Vita
3. Loaded MBA, and I saw all my purchased PSX and minis titles. Also saw the FTP app, but not the ripped ISO games.
4. Opened FTP app, which took me to an "extracting package" screen and took about 20 mins since I had loaded it up.
5. It completed and then I saw all the games I loaded and the FTP app worked properly.

I guess my question is... What was the whole extracting package thing. Is it a one only, or anytime I transfer between Vita and PC?
I guess using FTP bypasses this?

As of right now you could buy a used PSP, a microsdhc to pro duo adapter, and a 32GB microsdhc memory stick all for the same price as just a 32GB Vita stick. They actually have some dual adapter's too that will allow for say two 32GB sticks in one adapter, and I've read it combines it so you essentially have one 64GB stick. Pretty nifty. Someone really needs to come up with an adapter for the Vita cards somehow but their small size might make that impossible... right?

Old PSP: PSP games.

Vita: Vita games + PSP games.

And that's not taking into account the differences in terms of hardware (OLED, twin sticks, etc.).

One time thing, and yes FTP bypasses it.

Another question if anybody knows.

Does the Vita need to be at the latest FW to do a transfer from PS3?
Or can it all work offline?

I haven't bought a Vita yet, but is planning to real soon.

Is there a way to download the firmware update (1.81) to a USB then update the vita that way?
I'm not sure if it is possible, but even if it is, it wont do much good at this stage. You wont be able to get the exploited games over if a higher firmware is available.

Where should I create "ms0:/ISO" folder? I installed ftp program and want to move my ISOS there but can't seem to understand where ms0:/ is located.

Highest directory I can get to contains:

bgdl
temp
PSP
pspemu_temp

It is to some people, get over it.

Nothing for me to "get over"; just sharing an opinion.

I love the look of the OLED, certainly provides plenty of eye-candy. But for purely emulation purposes, I am ok with sticking with the PSP, especially since at the moment it's more robust than whats on the Vita (media acceleration opening doors for more emulators).

If / when they unlock access to Vita hardware, and port the emulators to take advantage of it, then I will be first to jump on board.

I have no idea what I'm doing. Downloaded the cef660tnb rar and now staring at computer screen overwhelmed by it all. What is CMA?

"Extract the associated folder (see below) to "PSAVEDATA/*SOMECHARACTERS*/..." and copy the new savedata to your PSVita with CMA."

Can someone write some dumbfuck simple instructions.

SNES9x and CPS-2 @ full speed would make me pay full price for a Vita.

straight up.

I'm dying to try out some CPS2 games on this thing lol.

CPS2 games run pretty well for me, but I would die for a CPS3 emulator (But I read the PSP can't handle it)

Final Burn Alpha runs CPS3 games at like 10 FPS :-(

Why would you guys want to play arcade games on a handheld if you all own tons of arcade boards?

It's not really an opinion though if you're asking 'why the heck anyone would want one JUST for emulation'. You're going to get a certain type of response with that kind of question.

I sort of want to do this to my Vita...Emulators would be nice, but being able to play Phantasy Star Portable 2i would be SO nice.
